why is the word blocked? Its used allot for example ****l gear solid, heavy ****l, whats your favorite type of ****l (i like copper)

It isn't m e t al , but just m e t a .

Its because of the html tag. You can use it to inject s c r i p t or redirect with it, and run arbitrary code on the client side.

Since the forum software is php, they should be running everything except the bb code through htmlspecialchars(); which would eliminate the need to censor soo many words, meh.

I just know a german tutorial but it's pretty easy to remove that stuff without banning the word in php

If means that much to you, you can write both meta and script in a way that allows those words to appear normal to readers. Just get creative... only takes a sec.
