Woodley, don't even get me started. His only high profile win was due to freak injury. He laid an egg against Rory. He should have lost the fight to Gastellum as well. Dude fought Gastellum on antibiotics and did absolutely nothing. Then he thrills the crowd with his post fight words of war:

"I'm not here to knock a fighter out. I don't want to get a KO every time."

Alvarez is equally bad. The guy has 3 UFC fights. Two of them were epic snoozers and split decision wins, the third was a loss. He gets a title shot for holding Pettis against the fence and doing his best to avoid a fight at all costs. He failed to control him on the ground. Its one thing to wrestlefuck a guy, its another to just hold him against the cage and and avoid any kind of offense humanly possible.
It looks even less impressive after seeing Barboza whip Pettis' ass in exciting fashion.

It should have been Wonderboy for the title at WW, and since Ferguson is hurt, give Khabib the TS as 155.

Thankfully the UFC doesn't decide title shots based on whether their last fight was exciting or not... I kind of agree with Woodley, but I see why Alvarez is getting a shot. Especially with the injuries in that division.

Totally agree, sets precedent for fighters to sit around and call for a title shot with a 2 fight win streak where the results weren't all that impressive.

Who would you prefer to get shots? Nick and Nate? lol

I agree with you to an extent, but these fights make sense, its as simple as that.

I'm happy Alvarez is getting a shot and I guess the UFC figures they need to make money out of him before he loses again or puts on another shitty performance. The Woodley booking kinda stinks though, nice to see a fresh title fight but the guy hasn't earned it and it will be a hard sell to make us believe Woodley is a real challenge.

Its not even all about excitement to me, its about a statement performance. Khabib, to me, ain't the most exciting guy. He hasn't finished a fight in years. That being said, he hasn't exactly squeaked by in fights. He has a clean sweep over the champ verses Alvarez who probably could have lost all three of his UFC fights. He doesn't have a clear win or strong performance in his UFC career. Ferguson should have been it but he's hurt so what can ya do.

Both deserves the shots whats your problem

I made that clear. Wonderboy, based on his dismantling of Hendricks and insane current run.
At LW, it should have been Ferguson, but since he's hurt. Give it to the guy who is undefeated and one fight removed from a 30-27 of the champ.

Because sometimes it's nice to not have a rematch as the title challenger

The world isn't ending tomorrow, they have done enough to get in the ring and they will either lose, and a challenger you like better will be there tomorrow, or they will prove their worth in the cage

Either way you will find something to cry about, but me? I don't give a fuck

I don't have a problem with either guy getting a shot.

What makes Woodley a stronger candidate than Wonderboy? Wonderboy has a 6 fight win streak to Woodley's 2 fight win streak. He has done it with more finishes and against better competition, finishing Hendricks in his last fight. How the fuck does Woodley top that?

Lawler v Woodley : it's obvious that the ufc had other plans for robbie that didn't work out. They needed to get him booked and now the rest of the decent options are booked (outside of Carlos? ) Woodley by default found himself here.

Rda v Alvarez : I've stated this before but I believe the ufc is paying eddie too much and has too much invested in him not to try to get some return on. I think if he would've beat cowboy he would've gotten an immediate TS. They went through a lot hassle to get him here and it hasn't worked out. Might as well get what you can while you can

Call Dana and complain. Maybe he will shitcan both fights because of a rare disgruntled sherdogger

I was upset when they announced the Wonderboy/Rory fight, not sure how he doesn't get the Lawler fight after he destroyed Hendricks. I really hope he gets past Rory.

People want to see fresh blood. It doesn't necessarily have to be the best guy out there. Just no more more fucking rematches. The same two or three guys holding up divisions for a couple years at a time has turned people off.

Most seem to think Wonderboy deserved the shot more. And you all know why. Some would say Condit deserved it. And GSP has an open invitation for a title fight any time, if he so chooses. RDA was supposed to fight Conor.

The point is these are new match ups. So I think alot of people are just happy about that. Though the Wonderboy faction have been vocal.

And both of these fights should still have the champ that walked in with the belt. Walking out with it as well.

If you believe two other guys should be fighting. Consider there could be some minor Zuffa fuckery, here. Keeping their options open for the future. By making matches they expect will not change the status quo.

Woodley finished Stun Gun #9 and Condit #4 (but arguably should be higher), he lost to Rory #1 and had a close fight with Gastellum #12 (arguably should be ranked higher)
Wonderboy beat Ellenberger (unranked) and Johnny Hendricks #5 and I believe was like #2? at the time? I don't remember how it was ranked exactly.

Anyway, Wonderboy arguably deserves a shot, and will get one when he beats Rory, but Tyron has more high profile fights, as been on the wait list ever since he beat Condit, and is getting it first.

Khabib just had his first match in 2 years, and Alvarez just beat the former champion despite how boring it was. Ferguson wasn't going to get the shot because he was injured?

If Khabib had beaten Ferguson (or vice versa) they probably would have booked that instead, but Ferguson pulling out left too many unanswered questions about Khabib. Eddie will probably be an easy win for RDA, which will pump him up and solidify him as a champ on a successful run, then Khabib will fight him sometime around December probably, and everything will be straightened out.

Sucks to say, TS, but fighters less deserving got more. Speaking of deserving, UFC obviously doesn't choose based off of accomplishments in the octogan. Belts no longer mean anything.

Agree. The Woodley title shot is complete horseshit but maybe the Dana is just giving him a shot so he can STFU. Lawler is going to fuck him up bad.

Well most contenders are tied up in a fight already and Robbie has been out for a while. I think it's kinda BS that Woodley just sat on his ass waiting for everyone to be booked and be the only option. Since being in the UFC his highest win streak is 2 and he's coming off a split decision. As for Alvarez I really don't know why he's getting the shot. Ferguson or Khabib would be more deserving IMO. On a two fight win streak and didnt look impressive in either fight. Ferguson is on a seven fight win streak finishing 5 of 7. Khabib beat the champ. Dumb fight.
