I'm from the UK and I only hear these names on American media. I agree they are weird.

Names like Paul, Michael, Dan. These are normal names.

Simple: People with strange names have to defend themselves from being made fun of from an early age. Fighting becomes second nature and a career doing it is just a part of the natural progression.

Or it could just be because there are 500+ fighters in the UFC and like any sample size, you're bound to have a few strange names.

Plenty of names on that list that aren't particularly odd and/or uncommon in other countries than 'Murica. Widen your horizons a bit son, it'll do you good.
