we just signing everyone now?!

9 fighters on Saturday's card with under 10 pro fights. Send those cans back to the minor leagues and make them earn it like they had to back in da day. How many fights until a fighters is worthy of the Big Leagues (aka U Fight Cheap) in your opinion? I think 10-15 should be the bare minimum.

They will fight for shit pay

And the UFC stopped giving a fuck about actually pursuing the best talent in the world once they started getting guaranteed contracts.

It's a fucking disgrace. I agree with you on that

If I am not mistaken this weekend card is at the Apex, right?

That is basically regional tier mma under the "UFC" name because whoever worked out their last contract (on espn side) was fucking retarded are failed to stipulate a sufficient level of quality.

Remember back in the day companies like Bellator did their "Contender series" ???
Imo most APEX cards and small market fight nights are basically regional mma which is passed off as "UFC" because they found a loophole which didn't enforce quality control, allowing them to sell dogshit sandwhichs as "UFC"

What weight class we talkin bout?

If it's hw or wmma, is what it is.

1.) This isn't boxing where you need to go 20-0 vs cans before you can step up to the big show
2.) Heavyweight badly needs new blood

Exactly. Looks like almost all of these less than 10 total career on this card are wmma or HW. There's not really enough talent to have them grind out the lower leagues.

The only non wmma/HW guy I saw on this card was a high level pro kickboxer whose already 3-1 in the UFC so he's not exactly slumming it up

Meanhwhile people are already bitching that Dana hasn't fast tracked Gable yet for going 3-0 in a feeder promotion.

Well Buchecha and Cesar Almeida don't have many fights because they are credentialed crossover athletes from other combat sports. We already know who they are and it might be tough to get them fights on the regional sceme anyway.

3 or 4 are women and there just aren't that many WMMA fighters on the regional scene for them to fight.

Insisting on a strict requirement of a certain number of fights before entering the UFC would likely lead to guys padding their records against absolute nobodies. Or lying about their records.

They'd fight for a lot less pay on some Midwestern podunk townie card.

Just so we're clear.... You think whoever has the American broadcasting rights should have a say in booking UFC cards?

is what it is... chimaev joined the ufc with like 6 pro fights. his 10th fight was with Jingliang on the main ppv card.

Pereira joined with 4 pro mma fights. By his 8th fight he won the MW championship.

UFC wants the contender series to become the primary pipeline to the big show. They control who fights, who gets signed, and can determine to some degree how said fighters are perceived. Come in, get a knockout, sign for peanuts, get marketing push, sink or swim afterward. Even if you swim, the escalating contracts won't become a problem for the UFC unless you hang around for 10 plus years. If you cross them, or you are too big outside of their sphere, you get the Talbott treatment.

Because they are very promising based on their showings and recommendations of their gym, sellable, have the It-factor for a peer-group like O'Malley.

If you think that the higher ups of the UFC are taking any slob you are mistaken.
They will only do so if said slob has name and will generate.

It's a very professional machinery to guarantee the growth of its brand based on risk-reward ratio.

I am not for sure what you are talking about? Except a brief window from 2007 to 2012, UFC signed lots of fighters who looked dominate in a small number of fights. Normally it was 10-12, like Olivera, but what about Brock or Ronda. Nick Diaz was 8-2 and Nate was 6-2, so not even great records either. Lots of people came in for a fight or two, and never came back, which was common before the PRIDE merger.

Jon came into the UFC with 6 fights.

Just to go onto the other end of the spectrum…

….CM Punk came into with NO fights.

You’ve been here long enough bro you know whats up
