bj penn has hawaiian blood. how is this STILL BEING DEBATED?! Its been like 10 years since i first saw it brought up on this forum

people on this site say some stupid shit

I remember a long ass time ago some idiots claimed BJ Penn was part east indian LMFAO

First, you dismissed everything that everyone has said about strong Samoan/Polensian people being strong as "anecdotal evidence." You wanted proof that genetics was responsible.

Then, when I dug up a controlled research study that showed GENETICS, not diet or physical activity, was responsible for dense muscles, you, again, dismissed it by posting a picture of a Mr. Olympic on steroids/HGH, and make some bullshit claim that muscle size doesn't equal strength.

Did you even bother to look up the research I posted? Or were you too busy being in denial?

Here is a video of a kid with the same exact genetic condition as in that research article - a kid who has dense muscle development.

So, you say dense muscle doesn't equal strength?

[YT]YHPYrpiU9mk[/YT]

I'm curious as to what other lame excuses you will come up with to dismiss genetics...

Thanks for posting that video. I ended up watching the whole thing.

Fucking awesome.

Where did you get this Latino idea from? How many Latinos are in American football?

Why don't you do a quick Google search and tell me, lol!

Most Latino countries are even worse than the Chinese in basketball.

How did this conversation go from power focused sports in the NFL and Rugby to basketball?

At any rate, since you want to talk about basketball, fine.

Argentina won gold in 2004 and bronze in 2008. How did China do?

The average height of Latinos are not that different than Asians.

You're talking about the Latino natives. The Latino of European descents or of mixed blood are way bigger than the natives, and they're certainly way bigger and stronger than Asians.

Are men of polynesian descent generally bigger bones/stronger/tougher?

We don't know - there is no data.

Samoan+football.jpg

there's all the data you'll need.

there's all the data you'll need.

Calf muscles...is now all the data you need to proof somebody is stronger/tougher.....lulz.

I seen plenty of people with smaller calfs that will out deadlift/squat/bench people with calfs.

Not to mention there is people without calfs that are among the toughest/best fighters in the world.

Are you people stupid?

Your posting a video of a toddler with a rare medical condition...It has nothing to do with "Samoan" genetics.

Ill be waiting for the kid to destroy everybody in powerlifting, strongman, olympic weightlifting as well.....I doubt that will happen, when everybody else goes thru puberty.

lol did this guy somehow find a way to work his lats without using any arms or shoulders? he looks ridiculous.

dude is banging irina shayk... i think ill take his position over anyone elses.

That "rare medical condition" is not an illness. The kid has a gene called Myostatin. The same gene was found in a German kid who inherited it from his mother and father.

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/5278028/ns/health-genetics/t/genetic-mutationturns-tot-superboy/

"Researchers would not disclose the German boy’s identity but said he was born to a somewhat muscular mother, a 24-year-old former professional sprinter. Her brother and three other close male relatives all were unusually strong, with one of them a construction worker able to unload heavy curbstones by hand."
Scientists have isolated that Gene. Hence, they were able to reproduce that effect on lab rats.

"Anecdotal evidence" right? Not Samoan genetics, right?

Keep living in denial. :icon_chee

No, you are the one who claimed it.

There is virtually no Rugby and NFL culture in China. There is no NFL or Rugby culture in Latin American either (Other than Argentina). Basketball is the only sport that uses strength a lot that you can compare. Out of the 20 countries in Latin America that plays basketball, only two are ranked higher than China. How does that proof Latinos are better in this sport?

You're talking about the Latino natives. The Latino of European descents or of mixed blood are way bigger than the natives, and they're certainly way bigger and stronger than Asians.

The average height of all the Latin countries are 5 feet 9 or lower. Where did you get this idea that Latino mixed blood are way bigger than the natives and they are way bigger and stronger than Asians? Most Latinos considered themselves mixed blood. Argentina is made up of mostly Italian and Spanish ancestry and statistically, the individual size per capita is not bigger than Koreans or Chinese. 48% of all Brazilians considered themselves white and the average height in Brazil is 5 foot 9 inches. There is zero statistics to support your claim that mixed blood Latinos are WAY bigger and stronger than Asians. Plus, Brazil and Argentina are not better at weightlifting than China.

Again, if you want to say Europeans or Blacks or Polynesians are bigger and stronger than the average Asian, I can agree with that. There are statistics to back that up.

But when you start talking about Filipinos and mixed blood Latinos, that is when you start talking nonsense. The average height of Filipinos is 5 foot 4 inches tall. And they have not won a medal in weightlifting, and they don't play Rugby or NFL football either.

Why do you keep on posting pics and video of that same dude? What are you trying to prove? That Chinese are among the strongest in the world?

Chinese athletes are among the best when it comes to agility and coordination. Strength isn't it.

How many Chinese NFL players are there? Not in the culture you say?

What about Chinese who were born in the US? What's your excuse now? That they're too busy "studying"?

Chinese would get wrecked by Euros, Latinos, blacks, Samoans/Polynesians, etc., in power focused sports like rugby and Amerian football.

I'm sure Chinese are stronger than blacks, too - according to your logic, there is no Olympic Weight lifting records set by blacks (in the 169lb division).

Anything else you want to say to make you feel better? :icon_chee

Again a Chinesse competing at 169 lbs which is around average man weight...It's the strongest when it comes to olympic weight lifting.

Plenty of blacks, white, latinos,Somoans weight around that range.....So where are they? Why don't they just walk in and beat this Chinese guy? if they are so incredibly weak?

You are the one claiming blacks/Samoans are in a whole other cateogory compared to all human beings when it comes to strength....Yet we don't see them dominating these strength sports.

The problem is your wording, you claim they are the strongest yet the evidence doesn't show.

I've travelled quite a lot around the world and as a Scandinavian I've rarely felt small. In the Cook Islands though... those islanders are big. I don't know how many rugby teams and different leagues they have in there, but they kept playing it all the time. And the population of Rarotonga is like 12000. Same thing in NZ, some of the islanders are massive.

I'd take one islander against five chinese everyday. And yes, I've been to China. They are tiny.

No, you are the one who claimed it.

I know I did. But you were pretty ignorant of the fact that there are Latino NFL players, so I told you to do a quick Google search.

But here, let me give you the links:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d80282851/article/nfl-celebrates-hispanic-heritage-month

http://www.nfl.com/qs/hispanicheritage/index.jsp

There is virtually no Rugby and NFL culture in China. There is no NFL or Rugby culture in Latin American either (Other than Argentina).

But the difference is Latin Americans who either moved to the US or were born in the US made it to the NFL. Mean while, there are a total of 2 Chinese Americans in the NFL. One is a quarter back and one is an offensive tackle.

You know Latin America focuses on soccer rather than basketball right? You know that China has a huge basketball program, with an estimate of 300million Chinese playing basketball?

The average height of all the Latin countries are 5 feet 9 or lower. Where did you get this idea that Latino mixed blood are way bigger than the natives and they are way bigger and stronger than Asians?

I got this idea from living in an area where 75% of the people (based on the census) who are Latin Americans...

I got this idea from training at gyms where I encountered Latinos of mixed blood on a daily basis who are 5' 10" to 6+ feet tall, 200lbs+ ... many of whom bench 200-300lbs or more, compared to the natives who are around 5' 5", 150lbs and are much weaker...

I got this idea that Latinos of mixed blood are much bigger and stronger than Asians from training at another gym where there are mostly Asians, and they're not nearly as big and strong as the Latinos...

Most Latinos considered themselves mixed blood.

Of course many Latinos are mixed blood. Some have more native blood while others have more euro blood in them.

Argentina is made up of mostly Italian and Spanish ancestry and statistically, the individual size per capita is not bigger than Koreans or Chinese. 48% of all Brazilians considered themselves white and the average height in Brazil is 5 foot 9 inches.

The problem with taking average is that the short ones averages out the numbers of the tall ones, so the real picture is not accurate. Considering Brazil is a quite culturally diverse country where there are blacks, Europeans, natives, and asians, taking the averages means you have 6 foot plus guys like JDS, Teixera, Thiago Silva, Anderson Silva, etc. included with small guys like Aldo, Barao, etc.

There is zero statistics to support your claim that mixed blood Latinos are WAY bigger and stronger than Asians.

All I need are two functioning eyes and a brain to know mixed blood Latinos are way bigger and stronger than Asians.

I train at a gym where at least 90% of the people there are Latinos. I encountered Latinos of mixed blood (light skinned Hispanics like Cain Velasquez) on a daily basis who are 5' 10" to 6+ feet tall, 180-200lbs+... many of whom bench 200-300lbs or more.

I have also trained at another gym where most of the people there are Asians. They're nowhere as tall, as big, or as strong. Once in a blue moon there are a few guys who are 6 feet tall, 200lbs, out of a gym of a couple hundred people, but they're not thickly built like the Mexicans and nowhere as strong.

Plus, Brazil and Argentina are not better at weightlifting than China.

LOL! You might as well say China has more "gold medals" in weightlifting than

1. USA
2. Iceland
3. Poland
4. UK
5. Lithuania
6. Finland
7. Sweden
8. Norway
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World's_Strongest_Man)

etc., etc.

And therefore, Chinese men are stronger than men from the above countries... :icon_lol:

(For those who didn't get the sarcasm, China's weight lifting medals are from women weight lifting and men's 169lbs/77kg division and smaller).

Again, if you want to say Europeans or Blacks or Polynesians are bigger and stronger than the average Asian, I can agree with that. There are statistics to back that up.

What statistics? Ask that guy, Apothesis - it's all anecdotal evidence. Also ask Himo - it's all GNC protein shake and the ability to stop playing Xbox. LOL!

But when you start talking about Filipinos and mixed blood Latinos, that is when you start talking nonsense. The average height of Filipinos is 5 foot 4 inches tall. And they have not won a medal in weightlifting, and they don't play Rugby or NFL football either.

I'll give you that many Filipinos are not very tall. I never said many of them were.

And are you sure Filipinos don't play in the NFL?

Are Polynesians from Asia or South America...? There is a debate
P.s didn't realise Frankie Edgar was Polynesian ;)

According to some posters in here, what you said was pretty meaningless, because it was simply "American stereotypes," "anecdotal evidence" without "scientific proof." :icon_chee

Seriously though, interesting story from someone who actually traveled to those islands.
