Why are the Nordic countries so happy?

Or I can keep my extra 56 grand a year and live like I am now
Okay. If you're American I don't blame you for not completely understanding how it works. No fault to you, your government is impossible to trust with your money lol.

The Nordic countries all got the highest scores. This article claims that trust in the government's handling of covid is an important factor, but I don't believe that.

You're talking about 5 different countries--Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands. They all have different governments so I think attributing their happiness to the government might not be the right answer.

But I don't know what is.

Is there something cultural about those areas? Like maybe they shame complainers, so most people always claim to be super happy?

Damn, Germany is really high. Guess it makes sense, they come from the land of chocolate

We had kind of the same system here in the Netherlands with free education. Probably a bit less solid, but I'm not completely familiar with all the ins and outs of how it's done in Scandinavia. But we also have sky high taxes, but now they changed it and you're not getting anywhere close to the compensation of educational costs, but of course the taxes don't change. Also the quality of education has greatly decreased all thanks to the government and the whole socialist aspect only has given the gov the power to fuck you over like they did and you can't really do anything about it. Luckily I still got my edumacations basically for free.

You have people that pretend everything is great and people that pretend everything sucks. They just lean more to the side that everything is great. Really though we all lay somewhere in between
lol. this is not just about self reported perception of happiness. the nordics always score highly on more objective quality of life measures.

I do have a friend who's a clinic therapist and she told me something very interesting. She said that most of her clients pretend to be happy or for many years just played a role in order to fit in. Extra wide smiles for those social media pics.

Behind closed doors however they were head cases. Ready to burst at any given moment. People tend to lie about their happiness in order to portray their own or their family lives in a positive light. In reality however, its really not all that it appears to be. This is especially evident in first world countries. The need to deceive people to gain social status.

<PlusJuan>exactly.

Also:

They're all constitutional monarchies.

They've simplified a shit ton of government processes that are complicated as fuck in the united states.

In the united states you practically need a team of lawyers, a therapist, and a punching bag to deal with the over complicated bullshit shit that's basically as simple as swiping left in those countries. It makes it a lot easier to become an entrepreneur there.

For some retarded reason if you bring that up though some dumb ass plumber in Nebraska will chime in on how they dropped out of middle school and all you need to do is become a tradesman before trailing off on some bullshit rant blaming millennials.

Yes, we get it tradesman you live in the middle of fucking nowhere and you have a skill that pays relatively well for where you live. You must be very proud of yourself but guess what?

Over here for the amount you get paid I can have 3-5 Mexicans doing 10x the amount of work as you. So shut the fuck up before I create a business using mexican labor to drive you out of business in your part of the country.
Did a plumber bang your wife?

I'm just tired of hearing tradesman make it about how great their life is in butt fuck nowhere while displaying next to zero understanding of the larger context of anything whatsoever then the mob being swayed by an idiotic discourse.

But if by wife you're creating an allegory for the minds of gullible retards then yes.

There's a lot of schooling and certification to being a tradesmen as well as arguing, almost negotiating, with county and state inspectors and those are hurdles the mexican laborers are not able to jump over.

Plumbers make bank in the big cities where the trades unions are at, not in bumfuck nowheresville. Also, the Mexicans are the laborers, not the plumbers. They do the demolition, the digging and the hard labor. The plumbers do the installations or repairs. There's schooling and certification required to being a plumber, as well as arguing, almost negotiating skills, needed when dealing with county/state inspectors, that are hurdles that mexican laborers aren't able to jump over.

For example, where I work, if there's a leak under a concrete slab, it's the mexican laborers using the concrete saw or the jack hammers. When they're done giving us access to the broken pipe, that's where we come in to do the repair. We do minimal hard labor.

Thanks for clarifying that process.

It's kind of besides my point though.

I'm just combining the generalities of that argument I hear on here into one ridiculous statement.

My point, well, at least part of it is that the people making that argument tend to make it into, socialism=bad. Ironically they tend to be republicans that are for a simplified govt process. When what those evil socialists have gone and done is simplified a shit ton of over complicated bureaucratic bullshit that causes these same republicans to be upset with how over complicated the govt makes everything.
