Opinion Why are so many immigrants ungrateful to the country that gave them everything?

I'll just preface this by saying that I am a first generation Australian. My parents came to Australia as refugees. They left their country because it fucking sucked and they know it. Even till this day we go to my grandma's house and celebrate Australia day.

The reason I made this thread is because I see so many immigrants who just take advantage of countries they move to and be extremely ungrateful. Why would you hate the land that gives you everything?

Just look at Eileen Gu for example. Born in the USA and learned everything she knows from America yet competes for fucking China in the Olympics. This person should be fucking shunned. I just don't understand why people still support her. Why do American's hate themselves?

Another example is Kamaru Usman. His parents gave him the name Marty and he moved to America at the age of 8. His dad made the choice to move because his country fucking sucked. Every single skill he has is thanks to the American system. Now he is one of the goats dominating the UFC under the Nigerian Flag. What the fuck has Nigeria ever done for him? He even fucking changed his name because he hates American so much. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Another exampe is Francis Ngannou. He had shit all in Cameroon so he took a boat to France for a better life. Everything he learned is from France yet he never even gives thanks to the country that made him a millionaire. He rocks a Cameroon flag and gives zero fucks to the community that actually made him who he is..

Colin Kaepernick can't celebrate July 4th because he thinks the USA is racist. So he went to Ghana Africa, the place that sold it's own African people into slavery. It makes no sense.

But this is Marxism and many have been brainwashed by it.

The slave trade was a few hundred years before that.

Why doesn't the host country ever fight back?

It honestly ever seems to happen in Western countries. Third world shit holes have more pride than Americans tbh. It's fucking sad.

This Eileen Gu especially should be berated 24/7 on TV by everyone.

Well your parents got to run the fuck away when the going got tough... Despite having a super deep connection to the dirt pile their parents fucked on, and owing an unwavering allegiance to it, they still said: "ight imma head out". Maybe we feel the same way.

My parents don't have a country anymore since they got invaded and killed. The country doesn't even exist anymore. They fled with the white Russians to China which in turn lead to more genocide. But hey thank you for sticking to the points.

Should people take pride in where they live?

"Take advantage of countries"?
Countries are what they are because of the people that are within them. You talk about countries as if they're separate beings that are bestowing us with gifts. I don't think anyone needs to feel "grateful" to a country. The immigrants are often providing something for the country as well.
Obviously, if you don't like the country, you probably shouldn't live in it. But as long as youre not fucking up the country, it's your choice to do and think as you like.

It is interesting to talk about how people like Francis should feel thankful to France if you ignore the history of Europe and Africa.

I will agree that the case of Eileen Gu is....weird. China doesn't allow dual citizenship, so I don't know how she's competing for them. Did she give up her US citizenship?
At the same time, she's only 18, so what the fuck does she know anyways? She's just doing it to make her mom and family happy more than likely. But it's a terrible look.
I think you can actually make money in China as an Olympic athlete, so that could be part of it too.
 
Immigrants often assimilate into the trends of the society they join.

it’s fashionable in the West to loathe your own country, some immigrants or their descendants fall into that.

You don’t find much of that shit in red states in America, I promise you that.

Don’t think they are any more ungrateful than the lowlife 20somethings that have had a family presence going back 100+ years
 
Also, Eileen Gu is 18, so she’s a dumb bitch by definition. I think what she is doing is despicable but I’m short of actually getting mad at her, since she is 18.
 
I'm not sure I really think that's the case. At least not with the people that move here initially. Certainly their good for nothing kids who don't know what it's like in other countries bitch. They compete hard in the oppression Olympics.
 
National pride and identity is a powerful thing. Your homeland doesn't have to be a great place for you to identify yourself with it.
And much of the West has spent a lot of time teaching their own people they have nothing to be proud of, and trying to convince the rest of the world that the West and everything it's responsible for is evil.

People want to feel pride. If you can't give it to them, they'll get it from somewhere else.

It's a pretty bad state of affairs.
 
Never heard of Eileen Gu but having briefly looked into it for about 10 seconds I strongly suspect China threw money at her to represent them.
