Why are Khalil Rountrees results so uneven?

Imo it's because 200% of fighting is half mental. /tito

Srs though that is the only thing that explains that kind of inconsistency to me. Physical factors all the same, or even improving from bout to bout, you'd think the inconsistency has to come from the mental angle.

Him still have di big skin yute deep inside him heart fam sumtayum bro cum in Bangkok mode str8 killa odda tayum him di fat kid wif sleep apnea wan fi be deh bout di mtg or melee tourney instead bro got multiple personalities but mi kno nuffin' aboot dat mi always keep it a buck 💯🦌

Khalil has the technique, he is certainly mentally strong. Powerful... I would say arrogant but better that then the other way around. He beat a world klass kickboxer in stand-up and made it look easy.
He is not some cody garbrandt/Tank Abbott who just goes all out and fuck the consequences, there is fight IQ. ....

Yet his results are hit and misses.... Is there any reason why he can't be champion? Something I don't see?

That was true for him at a point but idk that its still fair to say that after he went on a five fight win streak and gave the champ one of his tougher tests.

He didnt give Pereira a tough test. Khalil was breathing very heavy between rounds. Pereira was just going about his business.

I'm talking relative to Hill and Jiri who got finished faster. Rountree actually won two rounds off Peireira which is more than most who fought him on his recent title run can say.

Up to a few years ago, he was kinda mentally weak. Seems to have improved upon that.

Khalil is a 185 lb kickboxer. He loses to guys like Ulberg and Azamat. I don't think Ulberg is good either.

Khalil is too small for LHW and he doesn't have the wrestling or ground game for MW.

Gassing yourself out in the first two rounds of a a five round fight isn't a path to winning the fight, regardless of whether it lets you sneak a round or two. Throwing like that without having better than a puncher's chance of a KO is writing the L in your own column. Poatan knew all he had to do was survive round 2 and the fight was over, which makes surviving round 2 pretty easy.

They say Khalil's grappling is lightyears better than his striking but he prefers to strike

Saki was years removed from being a ranked kickboxer, and even more years removed from his prime years.
His MMA record is that of a can.

Khalil's win over him means little.
