How many fighters can go 2-1 against Cerrone, Melendez and Pettis? All 3 guys are title challengers and one is a former champion.

Alvarez lost to Cerrone but showed heart. Fighting on one leg in thr third round, he still managed to land some bombs. He was a top ranked fighter who lost to another top ranked fighter. There is no shame in that.

Then he fought and beat Melendez, who was proven to be on PEDs at the time. At the beginning of the fight, Melendez looked much stronger and more powerful, yet, Alvarez showed he wanted it more and fought back to get the split decision. Remember, Melendez also fought Ben Henderson to a split decision.

The Pettis fight was somewhat controversial but honestly, Alvarez dictated where the fight went and Pettis couldn't muster an offense.

Alvarez did what Ben Henderson couldn't do. In Henderson's second fight against Pettis he tried to control Pettis against the fence but Pettis managed to finish Ben anyways.

Alvarez obviously can hang with the best and deserves a little more respect than he's getting.

Of course he does

He had paid his dues regarding "wars" and shed enough blood to appease JBG

The man has the right to win some fights by decision.

I agree. I didn't hold the Pettis fight against him at all because he's been in so many wars already, we've all been entertained for years by his fights... liek Joachim Hanson, Kawajiri, Michael Chandler, etc. They should match him up with Nate Diaz next for #1 contender fight.

His UFC record isn't bad, he's just not the most entertaining. But hey there's worse out there

Ya he was facing some studs..But he didnt exactly win any of those fights convincingly

Some more food for thought.

Ben Henderson went 3-3 against those 3. If we go by his most recent fights against them he's 1-2 with the one win being a split decision.

GSP is definitely impressed by his performance.

He's impressive bcoz of 2 Split Decision wins.

Bendo should have lost his first fight with Cerrone, too.

He's not out of the relm of deserving a title shot but he's still behind the winner of Khabib-Ferguson IMO. I'd like to see him face Diaz and if he wins get the next title shot. Diaz is on a bit of a run but needs two more big victories IMO given his recent history. If he can knock of Alvarez and someone else like a Dariush, Pettis, Ferguson/Khabib loser then he should get the next shot. Even if Ferguson loses he shouldn't be too far from a title shot.

Obviously anyone who can hang with the top 10 in the UFC is impressive. On Sherdog though, only freak luck and loud mouths get you called great. Or beating the guy everyone loved for freak luck or loud mouth last week.

Bendo gets more respect losing to Pettis decisively twice and winning a controversial decision against Melendez.

Bendo got so much respect he fled the UFC?

Idk i thought he lost the Giblert fight and i wasn't impressed with his fight and game plan against Pettis. He's doing ok tho.

People don't give him credit for that his wrestling shutting down top 5 guys. Entertaining? Maybe not. Impressive? Yes.

Yes and from what all the dumbshits say he is coming from the B League and busting ass. You fucking morons.

In that case, do you think he should have lost the last one?

I would have to watch it again. I don't remember having a huge problem with the decision when it was announced, but I don't remember the fight very clearly.

My issue with that is that Khabib hasn't fought in over 2 years. He did last beat the current champ though so there's that.

Ferguson is a rising prospect but really, he only has like 2 really good wins.

Alvarez, on the other hand, has been a top 5-10 fighter for nearly a decade and has a deep resume of great wins.
