Ha, he's my favorite vocalist of all time (well, tied with Tom Waits) so I find some charm even in that ugly mug. His voice is magnificent though, even when he can barely slur his words together.

He's one of those people everyone had in their dead pools decades ago but still outlasts everyone.

He certainly sounds a lot better than he looks! Never really listened to them - this could well be the first song i hear by them - is it all in this vein, like 'Irish pub'?
Yeah Tom Waits is a good example...not exactly a conventional beauty by any stretch of the imagination but if you're a fan his face becomes super charming :)

Every white one right now. Kind of think it's a conspiracy or something. There are better looking white guys that can sing.
 


This is a cute song by today's standards.. But it's all guys like him and Ed Sheeran. If I was a young girl, and these were the white guys picked to be sex symbols, I would think I better date something else. I would literally think that. I'm not being racist against blacks, but maybe a little against whites. You're fkn finished if this guy and Ed Sheeran are the most well know musical artists. Finished.

Yeah, he's basically the founder of the Irish folk/punk genre (though his devotees lack the same songwriting prowess). He pairs beautifully with soft female vocalists:


And of course, the de facto official Christmas song of NYC:


But it's his talents as a lyricist that truly makes him stand out. I can't think of a more poetic songwriter in modern rock music.

I was recently listening to Bruno Mars and the thought came to me of how nowadays you have less then the sexiest men singing romantic ballads.

My first thought was Ed Sheeran. Also Barry White was pretty fat from what I remember.
