This ain't about the White Stripes
or the band who did it better than them,
the Black Keys. This is about Pete Rock
& CL Smooth vs Gangstarr. (I'd create a
poll if I had the ability)
Guru & DJ Premier and Pete Rock & CL
flow together seamlessly. Both power
house producers & MCs. With Guru
perhaps being the better lyricist & CL
being the better deliveryman. Both came
up around the same time, in what was
my opinion, the golden age of hip hop
between 1992-1996. This is not from any
legitimate beef between the two groups...
just a fun comparison.
Post your favorite tracks from them
Or any associated tracks. Or any other
two-person band you would argue for
& well.... argue for them...
Pete Rock & CL Smooth:
Gangstarr:
Honestly personally, despite the Main
Ingredient likely being my favorite all
time Hip Hop album, it's hard to pick
against Gangstarr. Premier & Guru
are the pinnacle of hip hop, imo.
