If he was alive today, Taylor might throw MJ a pity gig and let him open for her. :p

I don't think MJ would play at a concert attended by four cans on Sherdog.

Crazy to think about, but at the height of his fame there were 4-5 billion people in the world, for Taylor there's 8 billion. So yeah, Swift by a mile.

So they can do exactly what Taylor Swift is doing at this very moment, why do they get credit for it and she doesnt?
I WANNA KNOW WHY!!!!

🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬
Almost every single Taylor Swift tour date I've seen in the last 10 years has been 95% of the shows either USA or the English speaking/preppy parts of Europe. There's no actual legs of the tour that are dedicated to non English speaking parts of the world. Those bands I listed (along with MJ) have so much worldwide appeal that they'll dedicate entire legs of the tour to places like Asia, Africa, south america, Oceania.

Back to the original point that was what MJ had, insane worldwide appeal it wasn't just English speaking white girls. He could go to cities that didn't have working plumbing or electricity and get mobbed

Heres her tour dates til the end of 2024

She was just in Brazil, and now shes headed to Australia, Japan and Singapore, 3 of the 4 continents you just named

Also France, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, and all over the UK

All these dates are multiple shows in massive stadiums, she's doing every single thing you give the other bands credit for so I ask again, why dont she get the same credit?

what's the demographic makeup of her crowd? 99% young women?

Taylor Swift only appeals to young white women what universe are you living in? Are you gen z?

If you really believe that is the only demographic she appeals to, you're really out of touch. No, not gen z.

Whoever wrote the song "pop goes the weasel".

how about a poll, you cheap ass bastard?

MJ blows that skank out of the water nine ways to sunday.

sacrilege to even compare the two.

and I don't even like MJ tbh but keep it on the real.

I don't know any Swift songs but the impression I've gathered is that her music is almost exclusively listened to by young girls and women.

Take M.J. songs like: "Beat It" or " Billy Jean" or "Don't stop till you get enough" or "Wanna be Startin something" , they appeal to men, women and people of all ages.

Elvis
The Beatles
Michael Jackson...

That's top tier.

_________

Taylor Swift is probably the tier just beneath it along with Eminem.

Those top tier folks are still common knowledge WORLDWIDE more than 50 years after their music career started.

Taylor is highly talented.

I doubt her songs will be common knowledge 40-70 years from now.

You could play the first 3 seconds of at least a dozen Elvis songs that came out 60+ years ago and almost anyone would recognize and name the song and likely be able to sing the melody and k ow a lot of the words.

There's levels.

There is also a difference in the scope of fame. There were a handful of stations when Elvis came out and no internet. Everyone in the world was going to know him and it would be nearly impossible to avoid.

Elvis has been dead for 40+ years.
Over FOUR DECADES.

There was a huge hit movie about him last year. His songs STILL make money. Still have streaming traffic, still play in movies, there are still Elvis impersonators making a living.

Let me know how strong Taylor Swift has a place in pop culture in 2075

I literally don't know who Taylor Swift is, don't know any of her songs (maybe i heard it on some radio, but didn't know it was her, still don't know any of her song). Today is the first time i heard of her or maybe i heard before, but i don't remember.
