Who's getting paid more for Aldo vs McGregor?

Aldo is nowhere the marketing machine that Conor is.

He doesn't deserve to make the same money as McGregor.

Champion or not.

If there are two cards, one headlined by McGregor and one by Aldo.

Which one is going to sell more PPV's?

but but but ... sports!

Conor is set to make close to $10m for this fight, Jose around $5m from what i've read.

And that's probably fair, when Jose retires he's gonna wake up every morning and TANK Conor for setting him up for life, especially if he get a rematch.

People can talk about Ronda, but Conor is the money fight in MMA.

The reason Conor can ask for a $100,000,000 contract from the UFC is that he could walk away and put on his own show at Croke park and make huge money, he would have no shortage of FW's & LW's happy to wind down their contracts with the UFC in order to get a $1,000,000 payday.

Ya, but what I'm wondering is whether or not Dana will claim that Conor is the interim "champ", and somehow disrupt this distribution to Aldo.

Conor's current contract(his 3rd in 2.5 years) has him getting the 2nd biggest PPV cut in the UFC, his next one will dwarf all other fighters accept Ronda if she sticks around to sign another contract.

The reason the UFC made the Mendes fight for an interim belt was that Conor's contract stipulated a huge pay rise when he holds a belt, and he made it clear he would only fight Mendes on short notice if the rewards are the same as he was due to receive against Aldo.

The proposed $100m+ contract is a good deal for the UFC, they'll make 2-3 times that number if he meets the targets that would lead to that type of payout.

Conor is the guy making an effort to promote his fights. He is the one putting butts in seats and selling PPVs. As dominant as Jose has been, nobody really cares about him. His last few fights have done ~250k PPVs.

The guy who is bringing in the most money is naturally going to get the bigger cut. Just business.
