Angle was far better on the mic and far more versatile overall. Bret was probably a slightly better story teller in the ring but Kurt was way more entertaining with his move set.

Not the case for me. I don’t follow wrestling now, but watched for years. Got into it as a little kid in 1986. I’ve seen tons of Bret Hart matches, both in the Hart Foundation and as a solo star. I’ve seen Bret Hart live in both capacities. I’ve watched tons of Angle matches, and seen Angle live as well. Bret is an all time great, but I think Angle is better. Better in the ring, better on the mic, more versatile as a character.

I made a thread about this a while ago.

On overall range with in ring work, character/promos and all around versatility: Angle may be the GOAT, I say that as a huge Bret mark. Bret's better in the ring, Rock is better on the mic, Stone Cold, Taker, and several others have better characters.

Prime Angle had no limits on his range of abilities. He may not be the GOAT at any one aspect, but he was certainly a Master of them all.

I'd be interested to see who everyone thinks was better on the mic and in character: Angle or HBK

It’s one of the flaws in such a simplistic ranking system. Knowing Angle actually was an actual world class wrestler kinda negates how important his look was.

Same time “ look” basically means does this guy look like he could kick my ass.

With Angle, his legitimacy kinda negated those questions. In many ways it was Angle’s biggest plus point.

Obviously, we know his background. I knew of his gold medal before he started pro-wrestling.

Compared with your average man on the street, probably. Compared to the rest of the WWE locker room.....especially before he shaved his head, he looked somewhat generic.

Obviously it’s all relative.

I loved goofy Kurt with hair. Never liked him much after that though.
