That would actually be pretty epic. I could see Frankie doing/saying something like that. I think he feels tremendously disrespected and rightfully so. Now instead of giving him Conor they make up some bull$hit belt for him to fight for. If I were him I'd said thanks but no thanks for this belt. I'll take Conor's real belt as soon as he's man enough to come back down and defend it.

On one hand I totally agree with you that the interim belt is super dumb when the champ is on the same card not defending.. on the other hand I feel like it's almost more legitimate than the real belt because it's actually being fought over. Aldo beating Edgar for the interim title is a more legitimate win than McGregor has had for the belt. And that includes KTFO Aldo! I don't even know why that makes sense to me but it does.

No, because presuming McGregor never makes 145 again, the interim champs gets promoted. Imagine if Edgar got the interim belt, vacated it, and then McGregor vacated his, and they made Edgar fight Holloway for the belt.
