Who would you pick Tony to beat at this point??

Looking at Fight Matrix rankings Pettis is #18, so about that. Alexander Hernandez is #24. I'd say above that. Drew Dober is #22. I'm not sure if current Tony beats him. So about top 20.

People decline differently. Chuck went down fast. Looks like same for Tony.

Also he's only 31 years old. He has time left to improve. I wouldn't write him out of title contention just yet.
Very True! You'd think that mma fans would learn by now that guys can grow well into their careers. Only when they are getting washed out in all facets is it really 'safe' to count them out.

even still.. you're basing that off of how tony has fought his last 3 fights.. Dober is right inside the top 15.. if tony wants to keep the ranking he would have to win. so you might be right but that would still be the type of fight to make

Nah, mate, I'm basing that off way more than just his last three.

Dober isn't some stud wrestler, but he's got heavy hands and good, clean striking. If a sloppier guy with less power like Lando was almost finishing Tony in the first round until he gassed, then someone like Dober would have beaten him.

I don't think Tony would have been able to get much happening on the ground either, mainly because he'd struggle to get a strong guy like Dober down. Tony has never had good takedowns at all. A lot of his grappling is reactionary, as in when his opponent is gassed or hurt from strikes or shoots themselves.

I wanna see him fight Nate Diaz and Hooker at lw. Maybe Nico Price, Matt Brown or Nick at ww. Fun, violent, mostly standup fights.

Tony almost got finished in almost every one of his fights during his huge streak.. that doesn't say very much, and I agree dober could finish tony the way he has fought his last 3 fights.. but ... until he loses his 4th fight in a row I'm not confirmed that dober beats him.. I do believe Tony needs to fight someone ranked 12-15.. lose and he's out the top 15. thats just my opinion though, who do you suggest then?

Oh, I agree with you. Dober would be a fun matchup. I don't think Tony wins it, but it'd be good to watch.

He is not as washed up. He has been fighting superior grapplers and one superior striker.

I would pick him to beat most of the guys he has beaten in his 12 fight winning streak.
