Hard for me to pick I like both of these Russian beasts equally and they are both 9.5/10 fighters.

Yan's striking is meaner but Umar has better grappling. Yan is no slouch with tdd himself.

Umar is also not as good as Usman, Islam and Khabib, but Yan and Umar will probably both finish their careers two of the best BW's ever.

Who will win? It's a pick em 50/50

I agree, that’s an interesting matchup that I’d like to see over O’Mally vs Yan.

Petr ain’t no slouch. I think he’d be respectful towards Umar because their team moves like the marines lol

But I also think he’d be mean and tactical inside the cage and I’d like to see how Umar reacts to that.

Amazing fight but let's see Yan get his revenge and smash that rainbow donkey ass cuck O'Malley, whom he clearly beat the first time. That robbery set Yan back 3 years in his UFC career.
that's right, they stole 3 years of him.
hope they skip OMalley fight and if Umar can win his next fight, lets see both Russians fighting next

Umars performance against Figs will tell us about his cardio. If he’s still gassing in the third and the Yan that bested Merab shows up then Yan.

It likely comes down to whether Umar can body triangle Yan and if he can does Yan now have the escapes which alluded him against Sterling. We saw Volk almost completely neutralize Islam's wrestling in their first fight yet he still couldn't escape a body triangle once he got caught in one so it wouldn't surprise me if Yan was still lacking in that area.

Umar is himself a very good striker so even without wrestling success he can likely keep it competitive on the feet. His chin though is highly suspect imo after getting knocked down against Bekzat and Bautista so no one should be surprised if Yan is able to crack it.

I would moderately favor Umar somewhere around 60/40.

If the UFC fixes UFC 324 bout order and puts Umar's bout 3rd from the top, I think Umar beats Yan next.

But I won't be shocked if they push the Song/O'Malley winner for a title shot.

I hope we get this matchup next. It might be the most skilled matchup since Islam vs Volkanovski. I think Yan's wrestling is good enough to neutralize Umar's biggest strength but then again Umar is a more technical grappler than Merab. Striking and cardio are in Yan's favor although Umar's striking is no joke. I got Yan winning the late rounds but Umar could still win the first 3. It's gonna come down to gameplanning and stamina. Overall I got Yan.

Usman hasn't really proved hes better than Umar yet...he struggled with Hughes and Shabliy, those are his two best wins by far and we really cant be certain how great those guys are compared to the best in the world...I think theyre top 7-15 level in the UFC but its hard to say. Umar beating Sandhagen and having a razor close decision vs Merab is more telling than anything Usmans achieved so far.

Islam and Khabib clearly see a notch above. But I think both Islam and Khabib would struggle if they ran into a guy like Merab with an Olympic level Judo base, elite Sambo, unlimited cardio, pushes an intense pace and constantly pressures...

Usman is 3 years younger Umar. Came back against Hughes and easily beat him. People just don't realize how good Hughes it. Khabib is posting Usman in stories and he's running through top guys, getting his man strength, more confident than Umar, meaner, longer.

As for Khabib and Islam, they are on another level in terms of grappling, size and top control. Umar gets bullied by them in fact on stories Khabib was straight up suplexing Umar.

Merab's fighter melting cardio seems to be slowing down and he doesn't have the ground game or size to compete. Once Khabib and Islam sized grapplers get on top, Merab is in serious trouble. he essentially has zero finishing power as well.

He's closer with the little BW's like Yan or Umar, but the real Dagi LW's slam him through the cage.
