Yeah, this is a sequel thread, for the sequel that really started to make Mortal Kombat a household name.

In MK1, all of the fighters were basically the same, with the exception of their special moves. But with MK2, each character had subtle differences in addition to a wider variety of special moves that provided each fighter an individual gameplay style.

So, which one is/was your favorite?

I loved all the funny glitches you could do with this guy.

Everyone in MK1 and MK2 had the same fucking moves, except for their 2-4 special moves and fatality. Everyone had the dumb ass flip jump, sweep, uppercut, low kick, quick straight punches, etc.

You should make some Street Fighter 2 polls. The GOAT of 90s fighting games.

Literally no one cares.

True. Those subtle differences were in the first game as well. Doesn't mean that they weren't fun at the time, but those games certainly didn't age well. UMK3 did at least.

Johnny Cage for shadow moves and bugged triple decapitation uppercut.

I'm not trying to troll. I saw 2 MK threads today and really want to know if anyone has an argument to what I posted. The MK Universe is great and I wish they made a new movie. I just think the first 2 MK games were awful. Part 3 was similar but the running combos were fun to pull off.

Baraka if I wanted to cheese my way through the tower mode. Shang Tsung, to me, was for the real O.G.s. If you knew every move and every transformation and how to use them well, you were unstoppable.

The mechanics were pretty busted in the first couple of games and SF2 will always go down as the mechanically sound fighting game. But MK was and is a blast to play.

Maaaan even without quarters I would bike 4 miles to the mall just to sit there and watch the intro to SF2 back in the day. It was the best.

Now that I watch it today I almost wonder if it would catch heat for some people interpreting it as racist, lol.

I liked playing as Kung Lao the most because his fatality sliced vertically in half instead of horizontally.

That intro was actually removed from later versions because it was indeed perceived as racist.
I love how Japanese companies back then thought every white person in America had blonde hair and blue eyes.

Edit: I take that back, the intro was removed from the SNES versions because of Nintendo being Nintendo.

We need a "Best Arcade Fighting Game Intro" poll.

Probably Shang Tsung. He allowed for major variety in the game.

I decided to play the arcade version of MK2 last night and I forgot how absolutely cheap the AI was. By the third level the computer becomes psychic and knows everything you will do before you do it.
