Who was your biggest UFC bust?

sadly, Cro Cop is probably up there. 5-6 in the UFC, somehow. Got knocked out by fucking Schaub, for fucks sake. I'm still annoyed about it

Schaub was the most awkward looking fighter I ever seen.
I'm not sure how he won any fights at all.

I'll go with Cro Cop.

Coming off the heels of the 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix in PRIDE, I think most fans expected a whole lot more out of him. I understand some stories have surfaced about surgeries that may have made him take a step back before his UFC debut, but seemed to be forced into action too soon? Filipovic didn't get into a position to fight for the title and was knocked out by a who's who of middling fighters. At least he evened the score with Gonzaga and Big Country in Bellator, but he lost in much more spectacular fashion to them. Not to mention he was knocked out by Brendan Schaub of all people.

Outside of the rematch with Gonzaga the victories weren't all that impressive as they were back end of the UFC top 10 (if that). The win over Al-Turk was controversial due to an eye poke that lead up to the TKO. Perosh was a blown up heavyweight. Pat Berry seemed to be more of a fanboy than an opponent, just happy to be in there.

Brandon Thatch

Was 11-1, with 11 1st round finishes

Then got subbed by Benson, fine, but afterwards got finished 3 more times and hasn't fought since lol
Yeah I remember the hype for Thatch too. It's too bad cause even after that he could have still been something great but just disappeared.

I forgot about Thatch! Yeah, the UFC were trying hard AF to build him up. His fight with Bendo was a headliner, and that was only his third fight in the org.

I expected big things from him too, but I think he was pushed too quickly. Plus, he shouldn't have been cutting to 170lbs. He was way too big for that weight class, and I think that cost him.

Will Brooks and Ben Askren. Askren was fun while he lasted though

Phil Davis. Seemed to have all the physical tools, beat some huge names (Glover, Machida, Little Nog, Gustafson) but washed out of UFC.

He’s done OK in Bellator, but disappointing overall.

Will Brooks is up there for me. He looked like a killer vs Chandler and had all the skills to have success.
18-1 and had avenged his only loss with wins over a variety of styles before going 1-3 in the UFC with the 3 losses being finishes.
Heads over to PFL and has some success, but I don't think he will make it back to the UFC.

Marcin Held is another honourable mention in the UFC.

Sokodju (spelling?) has to be up there. Comes in after KOing lil Nog and Arona and doesn't even win a fight. KJ Noons. Josh Thompson's record would indicate a bust but like Melendez, he was on the wrong end of multiple razor-close, potentially robbed, split decisions. As much as it pains me to say, CroCop as well. He may have been past his prime but looked great in the OWGP just prior.

Sokoudjou actually did win a fight, he was 1-2 in the UFC, he beat Kaz Nakamura.

I think KJ Noons was already losing from his Strikeforce days, he was more an Elite XC guy.

Josh Thompson's a good one though, he was the guy right behind Gilbert Melendez in those Strikeforce days.
