Who was your biggest UFC bust?

Damn lol is that Zingano?

Sokodju (spelling?) has to be up there. Comes in after KOing lil Nog and Arona and doesn't even win a fight. KJ Noons. Josh Thompson's record would indicate a bust but like Melendez, he was on the wrong end of multiple razor-close, potentially robbed, split decisions. As much as it pains me to say, CroCop as well. He may have been past his prime but looked great in the OWGP just prior.

Gilbert Melendez.

21-2, top ranked lightweight, 9 title fight victories in Strikeforce, here comes the man that's gonna show Strikeforce is the new WEC in terms of dominating the UFC lightweight division!

Wait for it...

Wait...

6 years later, retires 1-6 in the UFC.

Yeah that was a bummer.
Thought he would've held the title at least once.

Off the top my head....OSP is a huge disappointment. He has all the physical attributes. Looked like he could be one of the best at times, but over time I realized he doesn't really improve, doesn't seem to train (relatively) hard, doesn't seem interested in fighting half the time he's in the cage, and generally doesn't seem to apply himself.

It's a bit differnet but a Pretty big disappointment has to be Cody Garbrandt. Who would've thought that the then bw champion with hardest and fastest hands of all time at bw, who just dominated the greatest bw of all time, would end up washed up at 30 and only winning one fight after that amazing performacne.

Yeah but he won the title, so that's not a total bust...no?

If we're talking recently.
I'm gonna have to go with Johnny Walker.

That dude has all the physical attributes, but can't seem to get out of his own damn way.
After seeing his start in the UFC I was like "This is the guy that will beat Jon" and we see how his career is turning out.

Oof... that may be #1.

Though I gotta be honest I was incredibly happy Pettis beat him.

biggest bust ?

meisha tate i'd think... or maybe Izzy
LMAO! Nice.

Personally, I thought Jessica Aguilar would be champ when she came into the UFC. You already mentioned Will Brooks, and I expected big things from him, too. Hector Lombard was a huge bust for me, especially after seeing him beat Jake Shields. To that point, NOBODY had ever beaten Shields like that.

However, of all of the busts, none of them have been worse than Giblert. After the Sanchez fight, I just knew he would be champ one day, and that was probably the biggest surprise for me. His fall from being arguably the best LW in the world to going 1-6 was completely unexpected.

Thankfully, Erick Silva is coming up. He's had a few setbacks, but tons of potential and time to grow. Mark my words.

Fedor

All the hype that he was going to dominate if he signed a UFC contract disappeared when he went to Strikeforce at age 32 and lost 3 straight, all by finish.

Sokoudjou had one of the most insane starts to a career. Guy was 2-1 and just KO's both of the top fighters in the world back to back. Hard to live up to those expectations after that.
