Who was better overall - Shogun or Hendo?

I’ve got Hendo. So shogun was kind of held back by Wand holding the belt, but it is impossible to unsee him panick wrestling Cyborg. After the advent of the H-bomb, the Americans took over

Interesting question! Gun to my head, I pick Shogun.

One reason why Hendo was able to last longer than Shogun is that he was almost the perfect tweener between 205 and 185lbs. That's a tough gap to bridge against elite competition, but Hendo seemed to be made for it, and he leveraged that throughout his career. Shogun, on the hand, is a decent sized 205er, and I have a hard time picturing him making 185lbs.

Also, this might sound nit-picky, but I never liked Hendo after seeing the Fedor fight. Hendo very clearly punched Fedor directly on the back of the head, and that was the punch that put him down. His Fedor win is one of his most celebrated, but I'm surprised that the overlooked foul isn't brought up more.

You bring up an Interesting point.

The fact that Hendo could go back and forth certainly injected a bit of juice (pun intended) into his career. If he went stagnant too long at one weight, he could switch and refresh his standing.

Shogun tapped to strikes twice which is unforgivable

Both are living legends, but I have to say Hendo
Hendo beat him twice
Hendo beat Big Nog
Hendo beat Fedor

Even without the fighs with each other Hendo wins, but TRT does muddy the waters

I forgive it and so do many others

I ripped half my shogun posters off the wall the first time and the other half the next.

Hendo had a much better career; if you mean who was better at their best that's a tougher question. Shogun's career was hindered a lot by injuries so it's hard to judge his real "prime".

Hendo. He’s a legendary MMA fighter. Beat some of the best and fought in 3 different divisions.

he’s one of the toughest people of all time.

Hendo.

Shogun hasn't one a decent fight for decades

Well, Hendo beat Shogun twice in Shogun's division, so Hendo's the better fighter. But Shogun, arguably, had the better, more dignifying career.
