As a black man I have to say although Izzy’s delivery left something to be desired, I understand his point. The vast majority of Africa is of the black race. So it kinda hits a nerve when an African (by way of colonialism) says he’ll be the “real” African champ after all our people have been through the last 4-500 years. I think DDP may not realize that him representing “all” of Africa may be something he can never achieve. I mean I’m not hating him, but I know plenty of Americans and Africans that think of the mother country as black. So for Izzy to call him a n***a. Was adesanyas way of saying you ain’t like us.

It’s as if a person who was ethnically British but their family has been in Hong Kong since occupation was saying because Wei lei lives in America (for example I know she doesn’t) wasn’t a real champ. and because they were born and raised there they would be the first Chinese champion. Africa is a continent made of 50+ countries, not a country. And no African is considering Black Americans that don't have parents from Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, etc. as Africans. No one is considering Migos as an African group. No one is discussing either Lebron James or Michael Jordan is the best African basketball player. Joel Embiid is African, Greek Freak is also African but Lebron James is not

I wasn’t talking about African Americans (although the name in and of itself implies they’re part African). It’s like you said though Giannis is considered African even though he was born and raised in Greece. To say he’s not African is true based on that. But I could see him getting upset if someone like DDP said he’s not a “real” African.
