Abus seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes by Sherdorks and talked about as if he were some can. Now I dont think he's ever going to be a title contender but his UFC run(4-2) has been solid!

He smoked Stoltzfus who went tooth-n-nail with perennial top-15 Fatsulem, dug deep to finish Ferreira who has had a very good UFC run including KOing RoboCop, and outclassed the always dangerous Michel Pereira.

Also his 2 losses; a 29-28 vs everyone's future champ Caio Barralho, and he took a round off of prime Strickland who showed vs Izzy and in the first DDP fight that he was elite championship caliber.

Might just have to play him at +200 this weekend vs Pyfer. WAR A-bus!

I talk about him like he's some can and I'll be the first to admit that he's definitely better than I memed on him for.

His gas tank in his first few fights was memorably abysmal, then he got beat up by Sean.
People ragged on him for the Caio loss, but I was aware Caio was good then. He's had a good run of wins, including showing that he has improved his conditioning against Michel.

He gave Sean Strickland his only finish in 5 years. What a generous guy!

I was mostly impressed vs Ferreira. He won round 1, got hurt in round 2, but came back in round 3 to rally for a finish and submit a very good grappler. His cardio looked solid these last 2 wins.

His body language tends to be pretty bad and I came away from the Brunno fight thinking both were quite unimpressive, albeit it was an entertaining bout.

His win over Michel was cleaner, but we've been seeing Pereira be exposed more and more since the Fluffy fight and he barely did anything so Abus wasn't challenged at all. More importantly Kyle Daukaus was able to do what Abus couldn't in very short order.

He smoked Stoltzfus in his debut with a perfect shot but after Strickland mauled him he's slowed his game wayyy down, and doesn't put as much mustard on his strikes anymore.

Is he terrible? No, but I think he's got a very low ceiling and a sus chin. Keep in mind Louis Taylor (washed old man) iced him badly back in PFL. Very bad look ahead of a fight with Pyfer.

I think he's rated adequately.

His cardio is bad. and that stands out. cant remember which fight it was i feel like it was his last one, god awful

He is exactly what he seems. He's a serviceable journeyman. By no means terrible but anyone worth their salt gets by him. He's okay everywhere but not great anywhere. Pyfer should handle him, if he doesn't, he's a bust.

he ain't ever cracking the top 10. No shame in getting finished by the #7 guy when you're unranked even if it was Strickland. I don't see the guy going far though. Even getting into the top 15 might be a tall order.

i was high on him for a rd but then he capitulated, badly

I agree -- he has made up for his fight against Strickland. He is pretty well rounded and seems to have improved over time.

I agree

I'm rooting for Joe but definitely think this fight is closer to 50/50.

MW is so stacked

If he wins SAT I dont see how he isn't ranked top 15

He has good offensive but gases badly.

If he fixes the latter he can be a decent force. If not, well his ceiling is already clear.

He had a huge step up way too soon with Strickland and failed spectacularly. He's only lost to decent fighters, and most here probably want to write him off after giving him a chance. Anything is possible in mma. But to me the best he'll be is a lower top 10 guy, maybe I'm missing something about him.
