Who looked better against Jan? Poatan or Izzy?

He was probably having flashbacks from his last fight. We saw what happened when he got too aggressive against izzy. Even Jan was able to land a good combo near the end of the 2nd when Alex was going for the finish.
His defense is indeed subpar and he doesnt seem to believe in bob and weaving. Only very poor head movement

Jan fought both of them differently. Probably because Izzy and Alex, both great fighters, poses different levels of threat.

Jan had more belief in his striking against Izzy. He used the TDs to secure the round. On the feet, it was fairly even with Jan landing the heavier strikes.

Against Alex, Jan used wrestling and top control to compete. He only struck with Alex because he had to due to Alex not making it easy on him in the grappling department. It seemed Jan didn't want to test himself all that much Against Alex's arsenal.

Two different approaches w/ two different results. I think the kind or striker determined how well he performed in each fight.

I thought neither guy looked great vs Jan.

Izzy looked way too gunshy, and for 2-3 rounds he was largely getting outstruck by a guy that everyone seemed to think would be easy pickings for him. Then he got taken down and outworked for the final two rounds. But despite losing, he still looked sharp.

Alex looked terrible in round 1 of his fight with Jan. He lost that round way more convincingly than any of the rounds Izzy dropped to Jan. But then he did have two very close rounds with Jan that could have realistically gone either way. The thing is, Jan looked utterly terrible after round 1. He was totally gassed, probably because of the altitude, and yet Jan still arguably won that fight. There's no doubt in my mind that if that fight hadn't been at high altitude, Jan would have dominated and won that fight without much issue.

Technically, Alex did look better than Izzy vs Jan, simply because he was landing good shots. But context matters here, and the context is that Alex was in a super close fight with an absolutely gassed Jan who could barely stand by the end of the fight. I'd love to see what Izzy would be like against that version of Jan. I suspect he'd do much better.

Jan was afraid of Poatan's power and wanted to finish the fight quickly, in one round. He didn't have a plan B, so he paid dearly.

Is this really a question that needs to be asked? Alex outstruck Jan and showed decent TDD and actually beat Jan while Izzy got outstruck handily on the feet and controlled on the ground.

Pereira by a MILE. Enough to pull off a split decision. I was pulling for Pereira, but I thought Blachowicz won 1 and 2. Tough loss for the Polish power.

How can you think Jan won the second round ? He was gassed out and about to be mauled against the fence

I can't remember half of Saturday night, lol. I'd have to watch it again to see what I was thinking when it was happening.

The one who actually won and outstruck Jan. Izzy got outstruck on the feet.

Alex seemed to be less overwhelmed and able to hold his own on the feet, but did struggle in the first with the wrestling.

Hehehe... I think Glover did an A-fucking-MAZING job!
Obviously Alex has a lot more to go, but he showed he is not an easy win on the ground.

But Izzy was far more well rounded (when he fought Jan) and while most probably he also trained wrestling for their fight, it was clear that Izzy didn't think Jan would ever try to wrestlefuck him... or maybe he was too (over)confident that he could defend takedowns (like he did against Vettori)....

But back to Alex, he surprised the fucking hell out of me!

What kind of stupid fucking question is this

Pereira looked more comfortable overall.

Adesanya wasn't comfortable at all with Jan's size and wrestling/grappling and it showed: he got outstruck despite being a lot faster, and the better striker.

People don't give Jan enough credit, he's very good

It's an unfair comparison imo... because Jan waz obviously beaten by altitude.

He could've won teh whole fight if he had unloaded once it got to the ground, but he couldn't even manage one last flury.

I think the thing we are missing here is how impressive of a performance this was for Jan. He is almost entering that Dan Henderson territory of never knowing when this guy is gonna be officially done
