The conspiracy used to be that they matched up Ferguson against Khabib in an attempt to kill off Khabib and give McGregor the easy fight against Ferguson.

I always thought the conspiracy was that he'd rather fight khabib because a loss to him doesn't look as bad to as a loss to tony and conor doesn't want to give tony the payday.
