Who is the smallest fighter that you think could beat a UFC heavyweight?

Historically it's been MW fighters since they're generally 6 feet plus and over 200lbs.

Skill can absolutely compensate for size difference. A big LW absolutely has a chance to beat a HW, even if it is not particularly likely to happen.

Machida is not a real HW. Look how fat he is compared to how he looked at MW and LHW. At LHW he never even cut weight, he was barely over 200lbs. There's a size difference between him and BJ, but it's not really an example of LW vs HW.

Once you start going below 170lbs, it starts seeming highly unlikely to me. Even 170lbs might be pushing it. I could see a highly skilled 185er taking out a lower to mid tier heavyweight. Periera could KO a heavyweight and Adesanya possibly as well. At 170, Usman possibly, Wonderboy in his prime if the heavyweight had shitty wrestling. Below that, size just starts seeming insurmountable.

A skilled 125 would play games with an obese HW. It might take him a day but there is nothing the hw can do about it at that level. Better level hulk smash. Don't fight better level HWs..

People are over-rating size.

DC wrestled at 184 lbs in college, and I consider him the 3rd best HW ever.
Rumble won multiple UFC fights at 170 lbs, and I consider him the 7th best LHW ever.
Both guys are not small by any means. Both are north of 200lbs.

And I can't. You're severely underestimating the difference size makes, at least when it comes to trained athletes. They would pick him up and throw him like a football.
I haven't laughed out loud reading Sherdog in a really long time, thanks for that.
Anyone under 185 is really hard to argue. 170 is giving up a 100lb weight advantage in theoretical frame (even if they are ballooned up).
I'm sure Poatan knocks out Sherman and Vanderaa the same night in a tournament format if he doesn't have to cut, he already looks like a HW stuffed into a MW. It would have to be someone with a solid chin all in all and one that has the power to finish. Someone said a 200lb Geoff Neal and I would put money on that as well.
Vanderaa got cut I'm pretty sure, he's fighting at some B-tier promotion in a bit. I don't know who fights out of that Quest gym with him as the owner and head coach.

The worst HW on the roster is probably Jared Vanderaa or maybe Chase Sherman.

I think Khamzat and Usman could beat these guys. Arguably they could beat them even if they had to weigh in at 170 and those guys got to weigh in at HW. If he was allowed to weigh in at his walk around weight then I think Khamzat could probably get a 1st rd sub on them.

If you let the little guy fight at his walk around weight though, then I actually think Max (who supposedly walks around at 190-200) could probably decision Sherman although the reach might be a problem for him.

Anyone else think any other out of camp FW or maybe even a BW could take a bad HW?
Usman would destroy any Heavyweight. He is just that good. Iron chin. Great cardio. Best wrestling we have seen in mma.
