Haha yeah. This poll was made before Bisping lost to Gastelum and before GSP vacated his belt.

I voted Fedor from the start but I bet some people would have voted differently had this poll been made a few weeks later.
Literally neither of those things should impact anything. It just shows how stupid MMA fans are, if anything.

I agree.

If somebody wanted to say GSP was the GOAT based on his WW career then that makes more sense.

What is funny is how everyone suddenly started saying he was the GOAT after beating Bisping. And then a lot of the same people dropped that idea as soon as Bisping got dropped versus Kelvin and GSP dropped the belt!

I have been saying Fedor is the GOAT for like 12 years. It is funny how Sherdog keeps changing their GOAT after every Saturday now.

That is false. Fedor had been the consistent GOAT in every poll regardless of who won on Saturday (Randy, Brock, etc). At times GSP, Anderson, Jones and Aldo have been chasing him but never over taking. That was until GSP finally dethroned him with the Bisping win and now only GSP is GOAT in the polls I've seen. There are no other changes.

But GSP and Floyd only have that record because they played it safe.

GSP retired at age 32.

Fedor kept fighting past 32 and lost at 33, 34 and 40.

Had GSP kept fighting he likely would have lost.

He also never fought anyone bigger other than Bisping. Fedor fought several dudes that were several inches taller and 50 pounds heavier and were far more dangerous and vicious than Bisping. He was almost always the smaller guy and did not lose for a whole 10 years while fighting many dangerous KO artists in the division where one punch can finish you. 10 years! GSP lost 2 or 3 times in the same time span before he retired.

Fedor also displayed more ways to win. Fedor would win by standing KO, GNP TKO, submission from top, submission from bottom, decision from outstriking, decision from outgrappling....Fedor could win anywhere the fight went.
I had Fedor as my GOAT right up until GSP beat Biping then I finally put GSP ahead.

As a Fedor fan however other Fedor fans need to stop posting the highlighted as if that is what is impressive at HW.

Fact is that at HW Fedor has fought at the range that is the most proven weight in the division. 240-250lbs seems to be the optimal weight at HW and once you start getting much above that the quality of opponents starts to drop precipitously. All of Fedor's toughest fights were against guys in his weight range.

Lets put it this way. Had Brock come into MMA and only fought guys 50bs heavier would that be more impressive than taking on the toughest guys at HW around 250lbs? NO it would not.

HW IS THE ONLY DIVISION WHERE BIGGER BEYOND A POINT IS MORE OF A WEAKNESS THAN A STRENGTH AND THE FIGHTS GET EASIER.

So stop praising Fedor for the easier fights and instead focus on the fights that made him awesome which was beating guys like Big Nog, Crocop etc who were all around the same weight as him.

Honestly the only people who should be able to give a proper answer are those who saw all of the five gods at their peak.

Personally, I only saw Fedor during the Affliction and Strikeforce era so obviously I missed most of his prime.

If you ask me who’s best fighter I have seen I will say Jon Jones, no doubt. But his legacy is tainted and so is Anderson’s, while that happened GSP became a two weight champion, so he’s my pick, not to mention he’s the best representative of the sport in my opinion.

TS really fumbled this by considering Guillard and Woodley as two of the greatest ever. Guillard?! I could even see Big Nog or Dan Henderson in the poll, even though I would not have voted for them. Fuck it, I’m out.

GSP comfortably in the current Goat race, Fedor would have to win this tournament and maybe pound Werdum to catch GSP

It's still gsp. Jones and Andy are disqualified. Would also accept fedor.
