Also, Thiago Silva who had all of the athletic abilities and skills to be a champion just had some head issues that got in the way of championship success. Although he’s the kind of guy (much like Romero) who can literally beat ANY fighter in the weight class on any given day. Or lose to someone he had no business losing to.

Romero doesnt lose to nobodies. Hes hell for any fighter. Didnt thiago silva get clearly outclassed against every high level fighter he ever faced? Why are people listing him?

I still think he might get the belt but he is criminally underrated. He arguably beat Woodley both times. The second fight was definitely a robbery, Tyron did literally nothing in 4 rounds. He got robbed even worse vs Till. He was dominating Pettis till he caught with that huge shot.

He dominates every minute of every fight it seems except when he gets caught by big shots that hurt him. I think Wonderboy gets the Jorge fight and finishes him this time and that puts him back in the picture

Thiago silva wasnt that great imo. He beat the living shit out of some guys but when he faced top tier comp he wilted. I think his muay thai was really overrated, however i feel.his offensive wrestling and top game were underrated. Scary fucking guy when he was on his game.

I think back then "muay thai" was thrown around very loosely. I remember they would hype guys like Wand, Pele, Shogun, Thiago, and Anderson like they were the purest representation of Muay Thai. While they definitely showed us glimpses of muay thai, I think for the most part these guys were good at the version of Muay Thai you would practice for Vale Tudo. Out of that bunch (and there are a lot more from that era) I think Anderson is the only one that really resembles a Muay Thai fighter beyond using the stance. Not taking anything away from them, I just agree with you about Thiago's muay thai being overrated.
