Who is better? DC or Stipe?

DC dropped a weight class because of Cain being the champ in HW. Thus, he avoided much of the top competition in the division for much of his time in the UFC. Stipe hasnt ducked top competition, hasnt complained about fighters that have failed drug testing that he fought, he just fought and won despite being counted out consistently on here.

The second fight, DC was beating Stipe up and was clear ahead on points before the TKO in the 4th.

We still have DC > Stipe. They need a 3rd to settle it.

koed Stipe in the first match, which means absolute superiority, better proven than if he had dominated five 10-8 rounds of a decision win. And therefore the rematch was illogical. Now in the rematch Stipe koed DC, which shows absolute 100% in the universe of probabilities certainty he's the better fighter and to put them again to fight when we already know this is illogical. So basically, both are the better fighter.

Cormier is undoubtedly more skilled and more gifted athletically. His hit lists at both HW and LHW are exceptional too.

Sometimes, though, being the best fighter is a combination of skills, athleticism, and size, and I would probably say that Stipe’s body of work exceeds Cormier’s with them being 1-1 and both having finished each other.

Another factor is age and Cormier is on the wrong end of Father Time. He’s such a special fighter that it annoys me about the whole dropping to LHW because of Cain who never fights anyway thing, because I think it’s not just possible but likely that Cormier would have been the greatest HW champion of all time by a wide margin despite his MW frame if he’d fought there his whole career.

you can argue that dc's punch was lucky and a fluke and that stipe's tko was a matter of technique and skill. if they fought 100 times stipe would win at least 60 times

Don’t forget that it would be very possible for Cormier to learn to counter that left to the body and then if that’s the only change then it becomes lopsided again. I’m not taking anything away from Stipe’s win, but it was based on a rather narrow defensive liability whereas DC looked generally superior in most ways.

I was rooting for Stipe to win, but I would pick DC as the better fighter overall. If he would have wrestled and not gotten into a toe to toe slugfest with Stipe, he probably would have won this fight also. DC should ask for the rematch with Miocic to end his career.

perhaps they fight a 3rd time and Stipe pokes him in the eye and finishes it up with a KO shot. It would be fair game IMO.

DC loses at LHW --> Because he's draining himself. He's full power at HW! He's a natural HW guys! Those weight cuts were brutal. He's undefeated at HW. Jones is scared.

This trilogy makes a lot more sense than DC fighting Jones again. Both fighters won by KO and both had their moments in both fights.

That's not how that works. The score is even. They're 1-1. DC may have won the early portion of the fight, but he couldn't finish Stipe, he ran out of the gas, and he got finished. That's not a winning performance.

i still think dc is better, and pick him again if the 3rd fight ever happens. dc started having way too much fun (prob against his coaches instructions) and got punched in the tummy too many times.

Stipe is probably down for a 3rd match
The question right now is if DC retires and ducks a rubber match. That wont be a good look for his legacy. 0-1-1 with Jones... and 1-1 with Stipe.
