Who hits harder? Ngannou or Foreman

Foreman KTFO of some bad dudes. But I'm not trying to belittle Ngannou. In such a case I give the benefit of the doubt to the boxer, but I bet either could KO me if they managed to land a few clean shots.

A few? Haha I'm dead after one.

I guess it depends on the punch tho. You takin multiple upper cuts? Your chin must be made of steel

Anyone who doesn’t immediately say Foreman is a fucking idiot who doesn’t know shit about boxing or MMA.

Foreman has one of the highest KO percentages in heavyweight boxing history, and did it during boxing’s absolute golden age.
To be fair, though, Foreman faced many bums, in both careers, but especially during his comeback. Therefore, his ultra-high KO percentage has to be viewed in relation to his quality of opposition. Sure, he knocked out or stopped guys like Frazier (twice), Norton, Lyle in career one and Moorer in career two, but his record nevertheless has many KO’s against low-level guys.

Foreman had massive power he was a beast but he was also very smart and knew where to place his punches which is why sometimes they looked like magic, they just went to sleep. I think Nganou is more powerful but his punches obviously less effective. Power wise tho, Nganou is a monster even if prime foreman knocks him out within 3 rounds.

i don’t like wilder but his right hand is the craziest thing I’ve seen in boxing in a long time. It’s like an laser bazooka. Ortiz looked like he got shot in the face.

You know this is a useless question because no-one knows who hits harder.
People will make up any reason why their guy hits harder, but none of them actually know.

Foreman for sure. Plus he will display more power at various speeds and angles. It’s not just the one punch vs one punch everything George throws is going to be harder. His jabs, hooks, uppercuts etc and his combos will just be superior. Wherever he hits you it’s going to hurt more.

To this day, I believe George Foreman is the hardest hitting heavyweight boxer. The biggest difference is how he throws his punches. Foreman, especially when he was older threw punches that looked like it didn't have a lot behind them. It honestly looked almost like he was throwing borderline arm punches. When you watch Ngannou or Wilder you see them throw their punches with explosion, there is significant speed behind them, they throw it hard and fast to the point where their technique has been criticized. When you watch them strike, you know those punches are powerful.

With Foreman, however, you see him knock out opponents and you get confused, it didn't seem like the punch he threw had anything behind them yet his opponent is slumped over, unconscious.

You see it here with Ngannou. He lunges forward, throwing wide hooks, putting everything behind them:

You compare that to this iconic knockout from Foreman. The sweat that turns into mist when Foreman hits Moorer with a one two doesn't coincide with the very little windup Foreman generated:

It's also very hard to find GIFS that don't result in finishes, but Foreman's performance against Holyfield also showed his insane power. He hurt Holyfield numerous times in their fight with punches that seemed like they were thrown half-assedly. Holyfied even has this somewhat famous story of him asking his corner if Foreman had knocked out all of his teeth after he got hit by him

And when he did decide to plant his feet and throw heavier punches, he still barely had any windup on his punches at all. He chambers them and lets them go.

Ngannou vs the 50 opponents George Foreman fought who were 220 or less, with any kind of gloves. How would that go? George Foreman had 2 decisions over guys less than 200 pounds.

Mma fights manifest much differently than a boxing match. Any kind of grappling situation, kicks etc would devastate a boxers cardio. Miocic would destroy Foreman in a real fight lol

Ummm…..the vast majority of them KO Francis in rapid fashion?

Put it this way - if Francis had power that was ahead of George Foreman he would be in a boxing ring just now and would never have set foot in the octagon.

Foreman has ‘fuck your technique’ power. He wasn’t in the ring trying to outbox. You needed a proper cast iron jaw (by boxing standards I should add) just to have a hope of seeing the final bell, and that often wasn’t enough. He was more than capable of casually one-punch KO-ing big men who had been trading punches their entire lives and likely never faced a bloke who could wobble them before George switched their lights off.

Those low level guys are all higher level boxers than anyone Francis has faced. They’re also fights that took place after decade long layoff for Foreman, so I think we can cut him some slack for taking the ‘easy’ fights.

@Starman is absolutely correct. Anyone who’s shared the ring with MMA fighters and boxers of a similar level will understand that the power differential isn’t some subtle, hard to assess thing. It’s pretty fucking massive. You’ll feel it from the first punch that lands until the last.

Frances throws a lot of force into his shots. Foreman being a boxer is able to generate more sting off his jab, sustain his power off angle too. Boxers only use their hands so are able to broaden their shots where as MMA fighters cannot focus the same amount of time into boxing as there’s more variables. Focus on boxing and you’ll get kicked, focus too much on kicks and you’ll get taken down.

That said force by force throwing everything into one punch like Francis does, he’ll prob outscore foreman on a force test being an explosive 260lb guy. As mentioned though, jabs, upper cuts. Awkward off angle shots and scoring KO’s foreman has more tools on this area.
