Kharitonov
Brock
Ivanov (put him on the list, he's legit)
Minikov
Tybura
Kongo

Is Brock Lesnar out of the question?

Can't remember how he left it with Zuffa

This is what you would call a

Coup d'etat for Sakikabara

If this is the fight they get, Pride will have returned for at least one night.

The two toughest fights for Fedor outside of the UFC are Sergei, and Minakov

but he won't ever fight these guys. I suppose it's possible he would fight Sergei, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Couture is the best fight on your list, even though he has been retired and is obviously up there in years.

Brock as someone mentioned .... that would make this event significant, I don't care what any Zuffa zombies say, it would be a big win for Sakikabara

All three Russians should be on the card though. Sergei is every bit as good as Mark Hunt on the feet (with more grappling and submission ability mind you), and Minakov is the only rising fighter outside of the UFC that is probably capable of becoming UFC HW champion

how about Minakov vs Ishii? Also Fedor vs Balgoi Ivanov would be fun

Voted Minakov because of the Bellator tie...

But I could see the Randy fight since they hinted that shit at the fan fest. Who knows!

thinking it's going to be either Kimbo or Lashley.

Minakov won't fight Fedor, nowadays they are trainning together. Fighting against russian in Japan (Kharitonov) make no sense for Fedor. Fedor already has defeated Ishii,so in terms of selling the fight again make no sense. And it's not gonna be Couture as well, in latest videos he didn't look like he got the fight against the Legend. We didn't see his trainning video or photos or something like that. Wanderlei has no permission to fight or something. Kimbo and Lashley looks like not so serious in terms of promotimg the fight. So remains Kongo. He is well known in USA big muscular former kikboxing champ. IMO he can clinch and using his size LnP Fedor and sent Last Emperor back to the Russian Parlament again.

In terms of competition, the best opponents would be Kharitonov and Minakov, but it won't happen.

I believe he'll fight either Ivanov or Kongo.

I can't imagine his first fight back will be an overly tough one. I'm going to guess someone like Denis Stojnic could be an option. Stojnic has won his last 3-4 fights.

I could see Sergei potentially happening at some point if Fedor doesn't sign with the UFC at all but I doubt it will be a comeback fight if he's just taking a couple of build up matches before signing with them.

What actually is Randy's position contractually? did he have fights left with Zuffa? if he did might the contract have run out time wise?

That said if Fedor/Randy was going to happen surely it would be setup for US audiences?

Ivanov would make sense in Japan since the draw there is really just Fedor, he is also pretty credible as HW's outside Zuffa go.

Wish it would be Minakov but it won't.

I'd bet the house its gonna be Lashley.

He's Jacked, black and really not that great.

Perfect combo for a japanese event that is winable for Fedor.

can Wanderlei not fight in another country as well? how far does nevadas laws reach?

on topic, it'll be ishii

Lashley. Huge wrestler, I would like to see Fedor against physicaly strong opponent.

Considering his age, last run, and ring rust I would give him a simulated Rank of #29.
Unlike the other older guys in UFC HW he has been out of comp for a while.

<the below assumes they have resonable access to the Bellator and M1 rosters/rankings and rosters will stay the same through Fedor's comeback career (they obviously wont)/it's just a rough draft of a reasonable arch>

START
1.Volkov (skip to #2 if Fedor won't fight a Russian)
2.Ortiz (or Grabowski if they can't convince him to move up)
3.Kharitonov (or King Mo if they have less M1 access than I think or he won't fight a Russian/Should be his first fight if he only does two non-UFC fights.)
4.McGeary (or Kongo if he won't move up)
5.Davis
SIGN TO UFC

In the meantime they need to work on getting higher HW and LHW to extend Fedor outside of UFC. Between Bellator, Samurai, and maybe M1 they should have more than enough reasources. Travis Browne is someone accessible, try for him.
