Who believes Moreno will win the rematch?

Basically this.

Plus no tum-tum issue for the champ next time.

Moreno gets ko'd.
To be honest those takedowns looked like they came easy for Moreno. I definitely see an avenue to victory if he can keep Fig down.

Sounds logical. Then Moreno wasn't at his best either. Fight should be run back with both guys having a full training camp.
Should be a banger, who you got in the rematch?

I've got Fig, it's gonna be hard to take another 130+ strikes from Fig without getting seriously hurt and/or stopped. Moreno has to come with a better strategy if he wants to stay competitive imo.

His chances/odds will be much better, i had him winning the decision actually, if he can get the 5 rounds going, do something with the takedowns he could take it home, i would watch the rematch for sure, but not in a hurry for it to happen, give them time to get better and heal 100%.

Can Moreno win? Sure

But I have to favor Fig after a proper camp and proper weight management. I thought he did more than enough to win, and I think he'll only do better when he's not facing as many obstacles

Agreed. And I'm sure they'll book the rematch for March or so to give them both time to recover and have a full camp. Will be a fun fight. Respect to both guys for taking this fight and making it so competitive

So here's a stupid question, it's not like Moreno had a full camp either.

The short turnaround stuff seems like a bs excuse since they both dealt with that.

I like Figueredo in the rematch, but he's lost a little bit of the invincibility factor. You could hear it in Moreno's post fight interview. He basically said in so many words "he doesn't hit that hard."

I'm very in to see the next fight. Going to be awesome.

Do you know how difficult it is to have a 21 day turnaround for a 5 round championship fight during a global pandemic, and you also have to defend your belt against a younger opponent who's been watching you hard for atleast 2 years now??

Fig will win the rematch emphatically, there's absolutely no way you can be even 80% under those circumstances regardless of damage sustained in your previous bout. That's not enough time to have a legitimate fight camp, he likely knew next to nothing about Moreno coming into this fight ( in terms of in depth fight prep)

I think every champion would severly struggle or lose if they had to take 21 days between championship bouts in the modern era, everyone in the division just got done watching you fight, and you have no time to adjust your skillset or tendencies before the next opponent is in your face.
They both had the same quick turnaround and time to prep. The went on on pretty even terms

Even so, that situation will always favor the contender who's been waiting for his shot against said champion, with his own approach and thought processes already focused on that said champion for years in most cases.

Both fighters will have their time to make adjustments your right, but Fig should have more room for improvement seeing as he had little to no time to truly study Moreno's tendencies and weaknesses.

Even the most brainless fighter would have their eye on Fig after he brutally KO'd Benavidez in their first fight, so even if Moreno was the most clueless fighter ever he's atleast been studying Fig for 10+ months, that would be the absolute bare minimum, realistically we're looking at multiple years.

Fig fought under he skill level. He needs to not load up on his punches so much.

i dont think Moreno will be the same after that beatin he took

Definitely has a shot. The 4 odd minutes he got to rest from fouling played a huge roll in Fig's cardio lasting the entire fight at that level.

Let alone the damage it caused to Moreno. He was resting and recouping his breath while Moreno was trying to puke

Edit : yes I believe he'll win the rematch

I believe he CAN win the rematch.
I wouldn’t put him as favorite though.

Last night showed some holes In figgy’s game.

TD defense

Hands low and he is not as fast as you need to be to be a hands down fighter.

Fig over extends on power punches and is often wide open to counters, especially short crisp straight counters.

Left hook landed hard numerous times.

Figgy got rocked in round 4, he is human.

Fig used “lean back” defense over and over again, which can be open to shifting combos moving forward. (Dillashaw vs Barao)
Left jab, right cross, (Step forward into southpaw) -> left cross (or overhand left)
Good assessment one thing I also see is figs hands are always low so he is basically using head movements to dodge. And every time moreno threw a jab he is trying to duck to his left side which could open up a hard right for Moreno if he can faint/bait his jab to set up his right. The right is there for him all day.

This isn't one of those cases though. I understand what you're saying and agree. But Fig hasn't been champ long. I feel like any advantage that comes from being able to watch and dissect a long reigning champs game isn't useful here.

Pfff with the evident push the udc are wiring to give him, he is def winning the rematch, even if he loses.

Short notice, fig been sick
I would expect a full camp fig to end it within 2 rounds

Agreed.

And I would say the main takeaway is that there is stuff that is now on film to study, habits, tendencies that could be used to formulate a game plan.
