Whittaker has no haters

Romero had his chances to win, and failed to capitalize.
Even with Whittaker clearly fighting with one hand in the later rounds, Romero couldn't close it out.

Ya gotta beat the champ to become the champ.

Emotions and beliefs and what you consider justice shouldn't have a place when you score a fight.

Romero was penalized with no belt on the line for him and with a loss of money and Robert had to agree to move forward like this. We aren't debating if it was enough or needed more that's not the point here we are talking about the contest and we have a set of rules for it.

Thing should go for everyone, leave our personal feelings out of this, the fact you like or dislike Romero shouldn't count in how you score the fight.

Rule wise I agree it was a draw Whitaker keeps the belt, but the UFC has to do something about the weight missing issue. It's becoming a HUGE problem. Minus a point and give up purse or hell cancel the fight completely something more then just giving up $$$

Whittaker won the fight, it wasn't even close to being a robbery.

RDA vs Colby was a closer fight.
that makes no sense....
at what point did rda controll or hurt colby? never, that wasnt a close fight

How can you hate Klay Thompson's brother.

They both won over the weekend.

I had a draw too, maybe Yoel winning depending on how one is supposed to score knockdowns. Either way this fight saved the main card from being plain embarrassing. Arlovski vs Tuivasa was okay but not the fireworks i expected.

Anyway Whittaker looks like a nice and humble guy so I'm happy for him, and the UFC needs more guys like that. Yoel would make a great champ too if he could stop being at the center of controversies (mostly if he could make weight)

The RDA vs Colby fight was 2-2 going into the final round.

Whittaker was 3-1 up going into the final round.

Romero may have hurt Whittaker a few times, but it was a 25 minute fight scored across 5 different rounds, and Whittiker was quite dominant for around 18-20 of that 25 minutes.

Romero had large periods of time when he does absolutely nothing, that's fine when you get the finish, but it costs him on the score cards.

It was a pretty clear draw imo and one of the greatest fights of all time. The decision reminded me of Hendo/Shogun actually another amazing fight where a missed 10-8 had a guy win instead of the obvious draw

Yoel's ball garglers have been really annoying post fight though and I say that as a Romero fan

He didn't get screwed out of the title. He lost 3 rounds and missed weight. Even if the fight was scored correctly he wouldn't have won (47-47) and even if the fight was scored for him he wouldn't have won the belt

Just appreciate the man as one of the most amazing talents we've ever seen who can fight evenly with a young lion like Whittaker over 5 rounds, appreciate that you got to see one of the best fights of all time, appreciate that even blind in one eye and gassed Yoel can still destroy any man on the planet and appreciate how good a dude Whittaker is for giving him all the credit in the world post fight, for taking the fight after he missed weight and for being tough enough to make that fight an absolute classic

TLDR: Fight was a draw, it was awesome, be happy about what you got instead of what you didn't get because you got a damn ton
