Don't nazi marches happen every year? and every year a few counter protesters show up and nothing gets blown out of proportion. Basically, nothing would've happened if the nazis were ignored. They would've shown up, bitched around, then left. Then the city could've quietly removed the statue if they wanted. Nazis and Klan marched in D.C. a few years back, yet the news coverage is different under Trump.

I tend to agree with you on this and actually do think the media can often cause more divide than aid with race relations.

With that said, this was the largest gathering of white supremacists in the US in two decades. It was more significant than a year by year rally.
