Goldeneye for me. I think Half-Life 1 and 2 are great but I never quite understood why they were so hyped.

Goldeneye was a complete game changer and took FPS to another level on consoles.

However, Doom 2 would be my all time greatest.

Goldeneye is the OG.

In a pre-widespread internet age, this was THE multi-player FPS

Played through Goldeneye on the Switch online stuff with an actual N64 controller and still had a lot of fun. I don’t think it’s aged quite as badly as stated sometimes.

That said, it doesn’t come close to Half Life 2 lol.

May as well just make a poll between Super Metroid & Castlevania SOTN.
I have Metroid Dread over both

Heck, I'd vote for Prince of Persia Lost Crown over both of those

I want a SOTN remaster/remake so badly.

Hopefully with Konami returning to gaming proper, they'll make it happen.
Yea, don't get me wrong, SOTN is a great game, along with Super Metroid. It just seems like when comparisons and all time rankings come up older games that pioneered a genre get put at the top of the rankings due to nostalgia.

I brought up Metroid Dread because in addition to refining the Metroidvania formula, it also moves and plays quickly, has incredible and challenging boss battles, and the EMMIs add an element of horror/sense of urgency. Plus you can literally fill a room with uppercuts in that game. ;)

One of the best boss fights ever (time stamped)

Super Mario 64 is considered the gold standard for platformers- and while it was legitimately mind-blowing at the time, I'd put Galaxy 2 and Oddysey over it.

Goldeneye 007 was a fun game to play with friends in split screen, and it introduced a lot of people to FPS experiences who never dipped into the niche (at the time) PC gaming world, but it wasn't even the best FPS of its era.

Half Life 2 did things that no other FPS has done since it came out, so it deserves the win.

IMO

The nostalgia for SOTN is very strong with me lol.

It's still my fav Castlevania game. I love the 2d graphics with 3D elements in the BG. They really stand out on the PS4 pro version from what I had seen, and you can run it at 4k. I'd be happy if they just brought that version to Steam, but a true remaster of the PS1 version, with 16:9 added would be incredible.

From what I recall, the PS4/Pro version is basically the PSP version emulated without the option to use OG voice acting? They both have the same audio glitches.
