Kevin Smith quit cigarettes to become a heavy everyday weed smoker in 2008 when Seth Rogen got him into it while working on Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Before that marijuana was not a regular part of his life.

It seemed like you hadn't heard he quit.

In the video I posted above he joked about how good a writer he was because he wasn't a stoner and was able to write stoner characters. And how he was so unaccustomed to smoking weed he thought he overdosed the first time he smoke weed together with his wife in around 2004. He literally said he wasn't a smoker at about 2:40 into the video.

Haha I was on a Buffy cruise around The Caribbean with one of the characters who advocated being Vegan and chowed down on a room service burger.

It's widely known he was a stoner early doors.

Alexi Laiho, was an absolutely insane guitarist, could play anything while running around without missing a note. I've never seen anyone play like that while being that active onstage. He was a great guy in beginning but over they years he became totally insufferable and impossible to work for. What happened to him was tragic.
