I'm high on the Shavkat train but he was a bit of a blanket against Magny.
Magny is the guy that contenders blast away and it was super impressive that he broke Magny, the guy who breaks people it just wasn't a hype inspiring fight for the casual fan base he also avoided striking in favour of wrestling. Magny is also showing signs of slowing down and looked pretty bad against Griffen.
As a Wonderboy fan I think Shavkat showed he can do what Burns and Belal did. Luque would be the next best test IMO a fighter with good TDD and striking. Not everybody needs to jump to the top 5 like Khamzat did. Building Shavkat is just going to build more hype for when he does earn his title shot.

He needs to fight more. I understand he wants a top 10 guy but Islam proved you just need to smash and be active. He'll move up the rankings 2 or 3 spots no matter who he beats. Not like he's getting a title shot anytime soon anyways w/ Leon/Usman 3 tentatively scheduled for March/April(per Helwani).

I'm sort of going with this approach.

Shav is awesome and I suspect he will win his next fight no matter who they give him... That win will force the issue and Dana and the Elite of the division will be forced to deal with him.

People like to hype up the other guy but SHAVKAT has a 100% finish rate and NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH WEIGHT. Maybe it's cus he's extremely quiet and doesnt talk but he's the best prospect in mma by far.


oh yea and he's ACTUALLY being ducked (neal,wonderboy) and it's sad.


Hopefully he grabs the belt by Q4 2023.

UFC WW division, a lot of the top guys only wanna fight the champ or an easier opponent. I was super impressed by Colby's 2 fights vs Usman, he was very competitive, but aside from that, he doesn't wanna have the tough fights unless its for the belt. Burns is probably willing but he already recently had the high risk, low reward fight vs Khamzat

He hasn't generated much hype. He's not booking big fights. He's not putting on shocking performances. He's not saying or doing anything that casuals tweet about.

He's working his way up the rankings. He can get to the belt without hype. Leon did.

Neal on the other hand should take that fight, it's the perfect matchup for where both guys are at.

Agreed. It's unbelievable how Colby has been ranked #1 forever while fighting past prime opponents and former LWs. Masvidal is the only fighter currently in the top #15 that he's beaten. He should lose his rank if he tries to duck Khamzat, Burns, or Brady.
