When I think of masterful championship performances where a guy fights the perfect fight to beat a seemingly unbeatable champion, this fight has to rank somewhere up there.

Other such performances, just off the top of my head would be something like Werdum vs Cain, or RDA vs Pettis, in both of those cases, the champ was the heavy favorite, but the challenger fought the perfect fight to overcome the odds.

I think in Petrs case it’s even extra special, considering it was a rematch of a fight he lost so soundly.

It's up there.

He had to go through so much adversity, after the first Merab fight, just to get here again.

People doubted his skills and his style.

He sure showed them.

One of the most impressive title wins of all time IMO flipped the script of our preceived dynamic between the two fighters was. His cardio looked just as good and his grappling looked stronger than ever.

Why are all the most impressive title wins BWs?

TJ vs barao
Dom vs TJ
Cody vs dom
Yan vs Merab

It was impressive.

Yan also seems to be the type of fighter who is gonna always do well in rematches - the always repeated "downloading data" line, the better he knows you and your style the better he will do. When he knows your style firsthand and can then plan for it - might be GSP rematches potential. Ajlo 2 can be the exception to this as Aljo threw the script off with the weird turtle d-fens that proved mighty effective, if silly looking.

If O'Malley manages to weasel himself into a title shot vs Yan, he might be proper fucked.

It is one of the highest level displays of "mixed martial arts" I've seen in a long time.
honestly, another one of the highest levels Ive ever seen is yan vs sandhagen. Yan really rose to another level that night too. same thing here. When he's on, he's a force.

He showed what mma means. When wrestlers are using grappling to stall out fights and you get bums on here telling you “it’s mma bro go watch kickboxing”

Yan pretty much destroyed their opinion as well as Merabs face

Im not sure about your stretch of logic that it somehow "destroyed" anyone's opinion. It was a display of a peak-level MMA talent with everything firing in sync. It takes a lot to get there - clearly more than you comprehend.

You’re one of them guys aren’t you. The “go watch kickboxing” elitists.

It is up there with one of the best performances of all time. He had an answer for everything Merab threw at him.

some silly sheepdoggies were claiming peter was too small and called him a blown up 125 lol

this performance is up there with some of the best all time:
tj barao 1-2
tj cody 1-2
tj cruz etc

up there with Cody vs Cruz.

one of those fights where nobody could believe what they were seeing. Merab looked like he always does, but Yan had an answer to everything.

Not at all, but by your brief summary of Merab as if he's merely some "wall and stall" fighter or that somehow his achievements are easily obtained, it's pretty obvious that you're little more than a casual, and not particularly observant.
