Kinetic motion is key.40 years after Mike Tyson and there are people who think height and reach is what determines KO power.

Fantastic technique. He doesn't just throw with his arms, his lats and back muscles are generating a lot of his power. You can see how much torque he generates just looking at his back and how he turns his body into the shots.

Ernie Shavers was under 6' tall and punching harder than Tyson was 10-15 years earlier.40 years after Mike Tyson and there are people who think height and reach is what determines KO power.
His shorter stature and lower center of gravity enables him to maintain balance quicker between movements and efficient footworkThis combination here is mind boggling if have experience in boxing, kick boxing or any kind of striking discipline.
The way he can throw strikes while closing the distance and still be in perfect stance, perfectly balanced to throw fight ending strikes is absolutely insane. He threw that right hand, did a little hop and was already in perfect stance to land another right hand with KO power that Volk didnt see coming at all. Usually when you close distance like that your feet are all over the place. He's feet are always planted its crazy.
The only one that comes to mind in MMA is prime Vitor and even Vitor was sloppy and would be off balanced a lot. Ilia has figured it out man. His moves are so efficient and calculated. Hes such a treat to watch fight if you love striking. And whats crazy is hes main martial arts discipline growing up was wrestling

I dont understand why we don’t see more baseball bros^
Kinetic chaining is the key.
Ilia does a great job anchoring to the ground and pivoting with his hips and shoulders. Plus he throws very compact strikes with speed and accuracy.

Even sports like Javelin, shot put and discuss teach kinetic energy and transfer of weight to power.I dont understand why we don’t see more baseball bros
Yet Jack Dempsey always said power punching is all technique.Agreed but then it all depends on the person's natural body coordination and athleticism. Some people are just born with better coordination. Thats why I always believe in the old boxing saying " punchers are born not made ".
