When was Eddie Alvarez peak?

Where is he now?
He had 3 fights in 2 years at a elite level after fighting Conor and he finished Justin Gaethje. That’s not a steep decline by any means.
He is 1-1 at 170 in ONE which is about the same level he has always been.
Eddie is a good fighter, but he hasn’t been really great at any point in his career. He was very lucky to be a UFC champ at all.

If you dont think going from ufc champ to being 1-1 in ONE isnt a steep decline i dont know what to tell you bud.

Came in and had a decision loss to Cerrone, two questionable split decisions over Pettis and Melendez and got gifted a titleshot against a RDA who was dying making weight, cause Khabib and Tony werent available and lost it in embarrasing fashion against Conor. Tried to beat Porier twice by cheating and failed twice. Cant hate on the Gaethje fight though, he showed up and showed out. But honestly, overall a weird UFC career. 4 wins in 8 UFC appearances. Dude is a tough motherfucker who is a warrior through and through, but imo was never that good. I'll admit I thought RDA would go through him but he got the job done. Given the LW contenders at the time, there was no way he was going to defend the title atleast once. He would've gotten finished by all top LW's. He gave us some excellent fights overall and I'm glad he's out there making good money.

His career has been littered with losses, he's looked shit and amazing back to back multiple times.

EDIT: Being inconsistent and not having a prime isn't a dig, it's just what I perceive. Wasn't intended to be a statement, just get sick of putting IMO all the damn time.
His resume is VERY impressive. Many of his wins came against top fighters in their prime also. He's on the downside now but that's no reason to dump on him. He revenged his losses against Aoki and Chandler too, showing growth. When he lost to Cowboy in 2014, Cowboy was on fire (8 fight win streak).

There's no luck in MMA. His wins were legit against top fighters in their primes. Cowboy was on an 8 fight win streak himself when he beat Eddie. Defeating Gaethje after losing to Conor proves how good he was.

I'm sensing that lots of posters are dissing Eddie just because Conor beat him. That's typical.

His prime was whenever he gained his “ufc superpowers” to whenever he lost them

Eddie was already past his prime when he came to the UFC. He had already been in so many wars in his career.

Bellator was peak Eddie.

Garbage. When he came to the UFC, Eddie was 30 (younger than Poirier, Gaethje, Conor, Khabib and others are now...and MUCH younger than Tony). Many of those guys have had more fights than Eddie had at that point in his career as well. These are simply excuses people make for fighters they like.

Ridiculous statement. He had a 10 fight win streak, then a 5, then a 7, then after a close loss to prime Cowboy, he beat Melendez, Pettis, and RDA. Then after his loss to Conor he finished Gaethje. He's been consistently good and sometimes great.
Bellator win streaks don't mean much...look at Lombard, Askren and others with double-digit win streaks before coming to the UFC. Eddie was 4-3-1 in the UFC against good competition. That tells you he was a good fighter, but certainly not GOAT-ish at all.

Around the time he stopped Aoki and Pitbull in consecutive fights.
Aoki was overrated, though. He never would've won a UFC belt. His prime was around the same time as BJ's, and prime BJ would destroy him standing and have no issues on the ground if it ever went there (it probably wouldn't). Aoki's fights with Melendez and Alvarez showed him he had no business in the UFC. Strikeforce and Bellator were bad enough.

Never dumped on him inconsistencies suggest to me no prime, prime is made up nonsense anyway.

I think he peaked prior to being in the UFC honestly. He was able to become a champion and get some big wins because he’s a scrapper and a tough dude. But he was probably at the end of his career prime right around the time he signed with the UFC—or shortly thereafter.

Agree. There's no luck in beating top fighters. Eddie's resume speaks for itself. Lots of fans thought he was gonna wreck Conor and then when he lost, "oh Eddie is no good anyway". Then he beat Justin!

Prime is made up nonsense in professional sports? That's a fucking dumb statement.
It is, it's all subjective, nothing certifies what prime is. It's like GOAT, just something fun to talk about.

See the many different answers in this thread for proof.

No doubt Eddie is a solid fighter....he's just no GOAT as a few have claimed. His 4-3-1 record in the UFC proved that. Even in his younger years, he had losses (like the one to Chandler). He beat some really good fighters and lost to some. No shame in that but we don't need to embellish his record by claiming 30-year old Eddie was "too old and past his prime" in the UFC. If that's true, then the entire Top 5 (and Khabib) are past their primes, too.

He defo peaked before he got to the UFC. His financial peak was the dive money he took to lose against canor.
