When speaking of opportunity, it's weird to hear the "I'm the product of immigrants, why can't the natives do better?" argument when you can clearly see that immigrants from Sub-Saharan Africa emigrate to the US with much higher educational attainment in comparison to US born black people.
It's easy to seek opportunities when you have a base to work with, which is something poor people across America, not just blacks, face in terms of social investment in their communities. And while people of all stripes face this problem, black people in the US are subjected to systemic problems like predatory lending, medical bias or redlining that make the struggle unique for them, as it always has been.
