When Rumble Johnson's team walked out on him

He almost KO'd DC standing in both fights. Where was he stymied?
The one where he was losing badly then started panic wrestling... and his corner walked out on him after and then he retired... that one...

The coach was disappointed that they worked for weeks on a game plan to keep the fight standing and knock a mf out, only for Rumble to initiate the wrestling with DC.
Coach had every right to have a moment for himself

Johnson had a couple of very odd fights. Vitor, DC 2, even his last one where he actually overcame adversity which was the strangest of them all.

Rumble lost the rematch the same way he lost the first match by wrestling when his corner repeatedly told him not to. Hooft was so pissed he left the cage before the interviews had started.

Sounds like somebody who sees his fighters as paychecks and not athletes he's supposed to take care of.

I love that PR damage control too somebody mentioned. "Hooft left the cage because he had to change his shirt".

LOL. Yeah right, change his shirt. What an asshole.

Yeah it was a bizarre fight. Title shot vs Cormier, and Rumble comes out shooting for takedowns. Of course he gets subbed, then announces his retirement after the fight. He's looking around for his team, but they all just left. It really seemed like he just threw the fight. Most feared puncher in the UFC and he tries to wrestle with Cormier? Just crazy.

Wasn’t Rumble announcing retirement? I think he kept calling for his coaches to come into the octagon but they didn’t, Im not sure the reasons. There’s video of it, it was a post fight interview.

spineless cowards they were

Right because Rumble didn't rock him and break his nose or anything.
Yes he most certainly got in one good shot.... WHOLE REST OF THE FIGHT was DC smothering him and owning him against the cage and on the ground...

I always figured Rumble fought totally against their gameplan and seemed mentally beat.

Seriously, Rumble goes out and tries to out-wrestle DC? Seriously? I can't believe that was the gameplan they trained to implement.

maybe he thought he could because Jon Jones did.

like in hindsight it was a bad gameplan, but maybe he was banking on DC focusing on his striking game and he could surprise him with a wrestling attack. Gustaffson did it to Jon Jones.

It was more than one shot.

I remember being stunned watching him trying to wreaþle with DC and then bring genuinely angry at him for awhile after that. Was calling him crumble Johnson. But shieeet, rip. he had lots of badass knockouts. Scary ahh welterweight, scary ahh light heavyweight
