I can only imagine Dana wishing Joe hadn't brought that up. How humiliating for it to be even considered by the champion of your marquee weight class that he wants to switch sports right after defending his belt instead of saying how the UFC is the pinnacle of his career and he's happy where he's at.
All I can say is bahaha

A fight with Tyson Fury sounds like an immature joke after last night so I don't imagine Dana is worried about that at the moment but yeah I imagine having to chat about contract disputes in cage would be an unnecessarily awkward end to a ppv

Ngannou is a great MMA fighter but he does not have the technical skills to challenge Fury in a boxing match.

This was painfully obvious against Gane. He had to adjust his fight style a broad range of MMA techniques (wrestling) to win this fight. That's not a dig at him...he is an MMA fighter and that is what he is supposed to do....but without a broad range of techniques Fury kills him.

Dana couldn't handle Francis saying no to him when it came to him fighting last August, and because Dana's petty, he had to go on a smear campaign talking about him wanting to go on vacation instead of fighting. If he had dropped the overlord complex and just kept his frustration with Francis to himself, I think this situation would look a little different.

It's really telling when half of an organizations storied former champs end up feuding with the boss and leaving the organization on bad terms. Shamrocks, Couture, Sylvia, Tito, GSP, etc.

I was wondering if he considered clearing it with the org before asking.

It was a self deprecating wtf moment for sure

challenge fury? wtf are you guys talking about, why is that even a topic?

francis gets destroyed by a mid-tier HW boxer. he isn't a boxer. he's an MMA fighter with heavy hands with 4 ounce gloves.

Francis knows he won't beat Fury. He's boxing because it pays way more $$$$ and I don't blame him at all.

We live in a crazy, collapsing society. Youtube stars are making millions on silly boxing matches, a straight up fucking fraud is robbing investors, stealing from government agencies, and abusing workers into making mediocre versions of products that have long existed is the richest man on the planet, a cadaver replaced a reality tv star as president. Not surprising the UFC champ wants to jump in a boxing ring to make 10x the money he makes fighting in the octagon.

Yeah but people would buy it (I'd watch) and Francis deserves a big pay day .

Does he though? Why? He has headlined 3 PPV with a 2-1 record in those fights and the only buy rate yet shown is 350,000 which is pretty weak. On a personal level I hope these guys make as much as they can but he has a low number of defences and minima evidence of selling big fights, how does that translate into big pay days

Which card had 350,000 buys ? A Stipe fight ? Cause Stipe was never popular . These sort of clown show fights are the next big thing if you haven't noticed and people love crossover fights these days . Francis is a huge scary looking power puncher like Wilder and Tyson is Tyson . Fans have called for it , Tysons agreed , Francis has as well ... It would be stupid but don't be delusional it would sell very very well and would fill a Stadium with fans .

It would have freak show interest due to the champ v champ aspect, however Miocic has 4 out of 7 PPV fights sell much better than his fight with Ngannou, and so I am not seeing numbers that say Ngannou = £££ (not saying it wouldn't sell but there are no numbers to support him getting huge pay days going into contact negotiations)

Yeah but I'm sure 3 of those 4 are with DC and I'd bet the other one is Werdum . Even if that's not the case Francis's other PPV's haven't been released, so it's speculation . What we do know is he's breaking through a lot of mainstream media, he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated , had a NYT's piece about him and is in the new Jackass movie . All this with the UFC doing very little to help his brand . If the UFC really pushed him he'd be a super star .
He's the perfect "scary villain power puncher" kinda guy for someone like Tyson in a freak show fight . I'm telling you dude it would sell a shit ton .

Still, its something people want to see and there would be a lot of cheese for Ngannou

Rogan is at a place where he can do what he want. Doesn't have to be a UFC ass kisser.
