Media Whelp, The UFC has Come a Long Way.

Growing pains. People dislike what ESPN+ has done with the paywall but the product is so much better and easier to consume. It's professional, well put together and isn't amateur hour.

MMA has come a long way since these shenanigans - logos lit on fire; snafus like the one in the OP; Gus Johnson yelling on CBS that "things like this happen in MMA" as they speak about the Shield/Diaz/Miller brawl.

Still a b-rated production. Pride 15-20 years ago had better production when it came to the actual show.

The UFC has only come a long way in the sense that it has consumed the other top org's of yesteryear, and doesn't have real competition, unlike before the collapse of Pride and other smaller org's. The depth isn't that much better, and they do not have the depth and talent to have all of these shows- yyyyaaawwwwnnnnn

You mean.... Face the Pain

I think they're putting on over 40 cards a year, honestly. I know there's weak cards, but the UFC's match making has never been better and there's never been better fighters.

I get why people complained about Saturday's card, but it was going up against NBA All-Star weekend and it's main event had to get moved to last minute circumstances. I get why the card would be weaker than normal.

Overall, the more MMA the better. I think matchups matter more than names. Yes, it takes more work to be a fan nowadays with so many cards and a bigger roster, but you get what you put into it, in my opinion. I watched the UFC card and Bellator back to back, and downloaded an app I've never heard of to watch the PFL Challenger series the day before. I do realize I'm an outlier nowadays.

I'm at a point in my life where I miss more cards due to work . But on the plus side if I miss a prospect I like I can at least look up their fight history and dig into older fights. I usually save my money for the "Marquee" UFCs

That particular clip is quite cringeworthy. That being said, I quite liked the early UFC days.

All time classic. It was like an exercise in how many times you can botch things in the space of 2 minutes.

Still though, the hype was real back then. That first Fox card with Cain/JDS 1, shit, it felt pretty monumental honestly. 2011 was maybe the best year in UFC history.

Haha.
I never used to rewind tapes. Sorry bro. It's just I think the store should do it when you pay for a service.
It was 20 years ago. I'm over it lol

Sure never thought they would go out of business when I started working for them... the internet/streaming/downloading was still a couple years away from exploding.

I wonder what would have happened, had they bought Netflix when they had the chance way back when.
