I play most days. As stress relief and with my kid. All console gaming. I can't spend the time or energy making sure my PC (laptop these days) can run whatever the latest thing is.
I've also noticed local coop isn't always as easy to setup as it is on console. Something I didn't think about until after the fact.

Not just that, even finding good local coop games has become such a pain in the the ass.

Not into it much anymore. AAA studios do their best to turn their games into movies and the indie scene is obsessed with 2d platformers. Doesn't seem like there's much out there for me

Video games on death bed for me unfortunately. Too many games, too much junk. Life with kids and outdoor stuff taking priority these days.

Cant get into anything anymore. If i find a game I love or can sink teeth into, i normally play it alone for 2-3 years. Did this with D3, Elden Ring, now onto Forza Horizon 5 which gets about 15 mins of play time a week if that.

Just don’t have the allure they once did for me.

I long for the days of NHL ‘93 and RBI Baseball!

Gaming has to compete with reading for my free time. When I'm focused on reading I game once or twice a week. When I'm focused on gaming I game almost every day for a bit.

I've kind of soured on console gaming and I'd like a competent gaming PC, as I'd like access to mods.

There are also thousands of games on the Xbox Store, yet none of them appeal to me at all.

I'm 40 now and have slowed down a bit. I have periods that can last months where I'm not interested in gaming at all but spells where I'll play for hours a day.

I struggle with games that are a big time commitment, like RPG's. I used to play them alot but now they kind of feel like a chore, even good ones. Like I've had Baldur's Gate 3 installed for a while and have only played like 7 hours although it's promising. More often than not I'll just play shooters since I fly through them no problem

Do you really find it that difficult to find these?

Steam has a tag devoted to Local Co-Op. There are 2,983 matches:

Alternatively, you can go to the SteamDB.
Steam tags are also here, but there are more ways to find games here. Under the "Number of Players" you can choose "Co-Op" or "Online Co-Op" or "Shared/Split Screen" or probably what you want, "Shared/Split Screen Co-Op". The last shows 10,004 titles on the SteamDB. You can then refine the results a million other ways. For example, you can set it to only games that have an 80% positive rating overall with at least 1K votes. Then you can checkbox the release year. Doing this, and picking only games released from 2020 or later, corresponding to the 9th generation of consoles, there are now 148 results. If you go back to 2013, to include the 8th generation of consoles, it's now 300 results.

In the Xbox app, you can go the "Store" tab on the left, then at the top of the front page for the Store pick the section "All PC Games". Once there, under the "Number of Players" drop-down filter menu, you can filter for either "Online Co-Op" or "Local Co-Op". For the latter, there is 484 games. You can then further refine that search with the drop-down filter on the right, "Capabilities", to only show those that offer "Cross-Platform Co-Op" if you like. Basically all of these are available on Game Pass. And many that are available on Game Pass that aren't brand new will be available with PS Plus.

I always tell myself every Friday that I'll finally play something once the kids are asleep, but by the time they're actually down, I'm wiped out. The only time I genuinely have energy to play is when mom takes them out on errands during the middle of the day. With one kid, I still had plenty of energy; two kids started draining me pretty quick. But now with three? Holy shit, I feel like I'm aging in days, not years.

Granted, nothing given me that spark as of late. Last game I sunk some time into was Wukong and PoE 2. Got hooked up with a copy of Rouge Trader from a fellow sherdogger, so that has me excited to play again.

What kind of games are you trying to play after you put the kids down? I noticed I have this same issue on the weekdays if I try to play something dialogue/story heavy which are the kind of games I love but I get so damn sleepy if I try to play them on the weekdays. I can really only play games that keep me engaged like a Nioh type game where I'm constantly worried about dying.

I don't really run anything on Steam these days. I'm primarily on console because it's simpler for my life. I'm helping my kid build a gaming PC but until that's done, I'm not pc-ing.

And the issue isn't finding couch co-ops. It's finding good ones.

I guess that's the misfortune of being on console. Because limiting to 80%+ ratings from a larger playerbase just for recent games there are tons of options.

Although many of those games will be multiplatform, so the tool is still useful for you. And I also included the Xbox strategy since basically all of those games will be on Xbox or Playstation. Nintendo is it's own thing, but most of their first party titles are built for local co-op.

blops 6 reignited my fps lust. Play about 15-20 hrs a week. Looking forward to bf6.

Elden ring was the first game in a long time that captured me completely. A true masterpiece.

I generally mainly play ARPGs as they hold my attention the longest, however, I wouldn't mind something more calm. This past weekend I was playing Blue Prince which was quite fun but I quickly realized I probably needed a notepad and I somewhat lost a bit of interest. Not saying I wouldn't go back, but I just wasn't up for detailing my game.

But ya, ARPGs are mainly my jam.

Eh, I play a couple games of NCAA after work two or three nights a week. Then on either Friday or Saturday night most weeks, I'll hop online and play Ready or Not/Warzone or something like that with my youngest brother. It's mostly just to give us something to do while we bullshit for a couple hours.

I haven't gamed since my PS4 died on me many years ago now, and I never bothered to replace it. I kind of lost interest in gaming even when my PS4 was working. I probably played COD once or twice a week for an hour, that's it. Gone are the days when I used to play COD MW2 for hours on end online, and Black Ops Zombies. Oh and gaming on the Snes, etc. when I was growing up.

I am thinking of getting a console next year for GTA 6 though.

I just buy video games on the online store and never play them.
