Welp, I bought another lower.

Going to drop my Geisselle trigger into it and just buy a completed .300 pistol upper from like Midway or Palmetto for this build I think.


Suggestions folks on which of these uppers to look into?

REALLY leaning toward the the Palmetto one.


A last thing, angled foregrips or handstops on an AR pistol are considered NFA violations yes or no? I am leaning towards yes on the angled foregrip but not sure on the handstop if I were to say put it on the very end of my handguard.

There isn't a whole ton of aftermarket support for it. I've shot one in 40 and wasn't a fan of the trigger, especially the double action trigger pull

Ours is a different animal, it's a type D; full size DAO and rotating barrel. IIRC, the compact Px4 has a more conventional Browning action. Either way, it is a poorly supported pistol because it was such a commercial failure but functionally fine, though nothing special.

I don't "hate" savages it just seems like nothing they make is particularly nice, I could be wrong about that though.

Their scout rifle actually looks decent as does their "hog hunter" but it just depends on what you're looking for.

The ruger seems good, rugers have solid actions and bombproof triggers and really are working rifles. They make their scout with a stainless/synthetic option now as well which looks good, I've not read anything but good things about the ruger scouts and I may end up with one eventually.

Those steyre scouts are obviously the best, Jeff Cooper helped design the things and they are an awesome design even though they look a bit strange. My big rub with the steyre is mags are expensive and hard to find (but this bothers me on every single detachable magazine rifle that's going to see hard use).

It seems like a steyre scout with a leupold scout scope would make an incredible cool, useful rifle but is going to run you an extra 4-500 bucks over a ruger. It's probably worth it IMO buy once, cry once.

Yes, I have the Ruger Scout and actually my coworker owns an older Model 10 Scout. My scout is heavier, but built better. Savage usually makes good guns, they're just cheaply made. Savage actions are sloppy, due to the floating bolt head; most of them leave the factory with machining marks; the plastic stocks flex quite a bit and sometimes you can see daylight between surfaces. That said, almost every Savage I've handled is a shooter.

I have the Ruger because when I was in the market for a scout, Savage was between the 10 and 11 Scouts and nothing in the new market at the time. I wouldn't recommend against a Savage, but I'm glad I have the Ruger.

Also, realize that Scout rifles (actually Scout scopes) aren't for everybody. The Ruger has the advantage of being more flexible; if you don't like Scout optics, the receiver is already set up for a more conventional optic set up...as long as you like Ruger rings, that is.

Damn primary arms doesn't fuck around. Just bought the trigger an hour ago and just got the shipping confirmation.

Thanks, that's pretty good info to have. I've read that the difference in overall quality between the model 10 and model 11 actions are pretty big in favor of the 11.

I ordered the lower from them earlier today and haven't got a shipping notification but that's an FFL item too.
 
Got the call from Cajun Gun Works saying my SP-01 is done. Can't fucking wait. Dude on the phone was all pumping me up with what a tack-driver it is now. Should have it next Thursday or so. Full review with pics then.
 
Anyone have experience with .300 Blackout pistols or AR pistols in general? Curious on some of the regulations of them like if I can use a handstop or not.

Hand stop and Afg are good to go.

If the AR pistol is over 26" in oal you can have a vertical grip.

So... someone explain this to me.... Advance Armament Co developed the .300 Blackout right? Why don't they sell a completed upper? PANDA CONFUSED.

I know I said I was kinda set on the PSA completed upper but I am thinking about saving up and getting the BCM pistol upper.

I know they have had different struggles over the years. Employee problems, moved and had production issues for a bit, etc.
