What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Like I said I don't really need the money but isn't just hold on to it for 800 bucks.

I tried to find examples of that AR for sale and basically didn't find one. The few old postings I found werected $1200-2k+ based accessories and whatnot.

Yeah the AR game has come a long way sonits sort of old school at this point. I'm not sure I'll sell it, it just crossed my mind. I really have no use for it.

I'm thinking pretty hard on buying a scout rifle in .308. @bushman505 do you have any suggestions/insight into this? I know you hate savage but model 11 scouts look to be a pretty good price.

@jlagman has the ruger. I've heard good things about the savages, the only other option really is the steyre for like 1300 bucks. I'd probably get a ruger or a savage.

I don't "hate" savages it just seems like nothing they make is particularly nice, I could be wrong about that though.

Their scout rifle actually looks decent as does their "hog hunter" but it just depends on what you're looking for.

The ruger seems good, rugers have solid actions and bombproof triggers and really are working rifles. They make their scout with a stainless/synthetic option now as well which looks good, I've not read anything but good things about the ruger scouts and I may end up with one eventually.

Those steyre scouts are obviously the best, Jeff Cooper helped design the things and they are an awesome design even though they look a bit strange. My big rub with the steyre is mags are expensive and hard to find (but this bothers me on every single detachable magazine rifle that's going to see hard use).

It seems like a steyre scout with a leupold scout scope would make an incredible cool, useful rifle but is going to run you an extra 4-500 bucks over a ruger. It's probably worth it IMO buy once, cry once.

Thinking of trading off my Glock 43 for something else. It's a good gun, I've had no issues, but I'm just not all that keen on it. I usually carry my 27, and I got the 43 for something smaller for summer carry, and it just doesn't make really any difference carrying vs my 27.

I'm not interested in downsizing my arsenal, so I'm thinking of trading the 43 off for a different baby 9mm. I've had a Shield already, so not going there. I was thinking of getting a Sig P938. Anyone own one and want to let me know how they like it?

I've shot one and loved it. Surprisingly mild recoil for the size. Are you comfortable with 1911 controls/carry?

I came really close to buying this but I had other things I was more interested in

@Stoic1 has one if I remember correctly.

That's a big reason I want one. I'm more used to 1911 controls and trigger than anything. My HD gun is a Springfield Champion Operator and spent a few years shooting single stack class for Steel Challenge.

Cabela's is having a pretty good ammo sale . . . something like 25% or 30% off. Might try to stock up on some 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel.

Primary Arms is selling NON blemished lowers with a built in trigger guard for like $29.95 right now. Standard AR15 lowers. I don't even need one and think I'll grab one.

LIMIT ONE PER ORDER though is what I see

Thinking of getting a beretta px4 storm compact 9mm. I intend to conceal it if I get one. Anyone have input?

Someone here has it as a duty pistol and isn't much of a fan. I want to say it @jlagman

There isn't a whole ton of aftermarket support for it. I've shot one in 40 and wasn't a fan of the trigger, especially the double action trigger pull

Thanks for the input. Any experience with the Ruger LCP line?

Not myself.

Anything in particular you are looking for in the pistol?
Can be concealed relatively comfortably, reliable (obviously), 9mm is the smallest caliber I'm interested in, and I generally prefer a lighter trigger. I'm not looking for something terribly specific. How comfortable it is for me to shoot and how comfortable it is in a holster under my shirt will probably be the biggest factors.

I have a 357 ruger LCR for a CCW that I like a lot. I've pretty much given it to my wife, though. now I'm back in the market for my own CCW. I generally favor revolvers, but I'm going to give semi-autos a chance.

The 19 or 26 from Glock would be good and you can always put in a different disconnector that will lighten the trigger some or swap it out for like an Apex or Zev or Diamond trigger in it.

Then there are the comparable options from Springer and Smith though the Smith first gen M&Ps almost everyone seems to say needs a trigger swap right out the box same as a Glock needs sight swaps right out the box.

A friend of mine carries a SCCY and likes it but has been struggling to find a holster for it.

Give any thought to a sub compact 1911 in 9mm? I know they exist.

So, I've played with this G-Code holster for a bout a week now. It's I think Level 1 as there is nothing keeping it in said holster (nothing over the back of the slide to hold it in) and as I intend this just to be used when I go to like the gravel pit to go shooting or if I were to ever take like a Cris Costa class that's ok with me...

This holster is fucking awesome. Anyone in need of a kydex style holster take a look at these guys. They have level 2 and 3 options as well and have a system where you can swap out a top portion of the holster to change out the gun you are using like if you have 2-3 G19s and one has an RMR, another has a Viper, and one has no RDS on it you can use the same lower half of the holster but just trade out the upper half.

Check em out:

If you are considering a single stack 9.

Or performance center ported with hi viz fiber optic sights and a better lighter trigger.

They have a mail in rebate of $75 for shield atm. I think that ends very soon (June 1st maybe) but you can get a fantastic gun for a good price.
