What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I thought they were called "Scorpion" based on the beavertail. WHOOPS.

Also, there's nothing wrong with FDE but given I live in WA.... it's pointless., even if I was on the east side of the state which is drier I'd be running more of a Burnt Bronze or Coyote Brown on my guns instead of the sniper green I have been running.

I hate the housing for the Streamlights... they all look so cheap.
They are cheap, compared to Surefire etc. But I've had a TLR-3 on my home defense 1911 for 3 years now and I haven't had any issues with it. I've handled a TLR-6 and seems to be fine quality as well.

Fffffuuuuuu....

THERE'S TOO MANY TO PICK FROM!

Guess I should hold one first before making up my mind too.
I've run some rounds thru my buddies P226. Nice gun, good shooter, but I still don't quite get why someone would buy one. You could almost get 2 glocks/m&p/whatever for the cost of a P226. And I don't believe the P226 is any more reliable than say a Glock 17, I didn't think it shot any softer either. I'd rather have the extra cash for ammo.
If I was stuck for some reason on a metal framed gun, I'd take a CZ SP-01 over a Sig P226 any day of the week.

Well if you don't want stainless or fde that knocks quite a few out.

SRT(short reset) trigger is probably want you want imo. There is the SAO, DAO, SRT, standard.

If you want a beaver tail I'd suggest the Enhanced Elite

E26R-9-ESE-LARGE.jpg

or Tac ops(threaded or not) is nice as well. Different sights, four 20 round mags.

If no beaver the Extreme is good.

If no beaver and the standard trigger is good enough than get the nitron.

Basically go see if you want the SRT or not. My P227 has the standard trigger. It's not bad but the SRT is better.

Because it's not striker fire...

It also has nice features and looks great. Something Glock doesn't know about.

There is the P320 if he wanted striker.

There's nothing wrong with Glock, I really like my 23... I can't stand the full size Glock 17 or 22 though. It just feels way too bulky in my hand, even when compared with my double stack .45 1911 from Para.

I hate the M&P trigger as well and hate all the different "safety" features on the XD lineup. Which is partly why I turned to the Sigs.

I have a friend that has the "Legion" version of the P226... those have the SRT triggers on them right? Might have to ask him if I can try it out.

As to whether I want a beavertail or not I am not sure. The G23 doesn't have one and I am fine with it but it's a striker-fired gun and doesn't have an exposed hammer.

I've also told myself when I got into firearms I would end up with at least ONE of each of these:
- Ruger Blackhawk (my dad has two so I am set there)
- AR 15 (have one, soon to be two)
- A Weatherby (one is on the way)
- Standard and premium 1911 (I think my Para counts as a premium one, still want more though)
- A Sig

Why did I want a Sig in my collection you ask? Because I've always wanted something German engineered... and I have no interest in BMW, Audi, or Mercedes.

I'd like to buy a Streamlight TLR-6 (Light/Laser Combo). Amazon has a kit that includes the housings for all available gun models (I think there's 6 it fits?) for $115. Standard price on these is around $100 anyways, and I'm not sure whether I'm putting it on my Shield or my Glock 27, so this way I have an option for both. I'm also considering picking up a Glock 43, so this would cover all 3 guns.

Only hold up is trying to find a good holster for AIWB for the shield with the TLR-6. I'd like an INCOG eclipse, but they only have a TLR-6 holster for the glock 43 at the moment.

I can order the Streamlight TLR-6 from Zanders . . . they have like 7 different models available. :)

Just found an 1100 Lumen light (not a gigantic one either), handheld, on DVOR for just under $60.

A beaver tail on a Sig isn't really needed. More of a looks thing imo. I don't think you would be able to get higher up on it.

Also buy the Sig online with a good sale. The msrp is not even close to what you can get them for. My fde P227 was $699. Msrp is like $1015. I've seen the basic p226 for around the same price quite recently. Example of a out if stock deal from a week ago

Try the M&P pro series, it's much better. There is also the M&P pro series C.O.R.E set up for a delta point/fast fire/rmr.

If I was looking at striker my choice would be between the P320, VP9 or M&P pro series C.O.R.E.

I'm not a fan of the XD looks(nerf gun "grip zone") or back strap.

Another thing to remember about the Sig price even at the $8-900. Fantastic grips, good 3 dot night sights, good trigger(SRT) and nice features.

Those Legion pistols are expensive though. Don't expect to find one cheap.

I figure if I try the Legion and can get the other friend with the barebones 10 year old standard Sig P226 I can compare them and figure out which "premium" parts I want.

And thanks for the head's up on the price.

Cool beans. The thing will probably go in my truck's center console and then promptly never be used.

Well, looks are subjective. I used glock as an example, as there are quite a few guns at a Glock price point available. The Glock is a better looking gun IMO, but opinions don't really matter.

What features exactly does a P226 have that a Glock doesn't? I don't remember anything particularly special.

I'm not following. The Glock 17 is basically the same size as a 226, probably a little smaller even. Substitute Glock for XDM, M&P, CZ P09, all are a better value IMO.

Why did I want a Sig in my collection you ask? Because I've always wanted something German engineered... and I have no interest in BMW, Audi, or Mercedes.
Have you looked at Walther? Again, I like Sigs, I just don't think they are worth the premium markup.

My Para 1911 which is a double stack .45 has a very wide grip... But something about how the Glock 17 feels in my hand feels even bigger.

I have not and admittedly I don't know much about the Walther line up of pistols.

Well obviously it's da/sa with decocker.

3 dot night sights are standard

Serrations/visual features which are subjective to the worth.

Their grips are great. Real texture. Subjective but they won't need talon grip tape if you like more traction.

I got my fde p227 for $699. A Glock 21 in a fde or whatever with the worst factory sights available is like $50-100 less.

A P226 extreme was just on sale for $683(link in another post). For $133-183 more than Glock I just think it is much better. Looks are subjective but I think Sig's look 100x better than Glock. Glock is about the most boring, plain, etc gun made imo.

For me the things I really like about the Sig when compared to, at least the Glock I have:
- Many come with night sights standard... not those Glock sights which while I would disagree with @RerouteToRemain says in they are the worst (my Spring GI has the worst)

- G10 grips are the tits and while the Gen4 Glocks are ok... nothing compares to G10 grips (my Para came with G10 grips)

- It has great checkering/grippiness on them, something that Glocks have been having an issue the last 2 Gens

- Being my first pistol was a 1911 I am admittedly partial to steel frame firearms.
