What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Yeah, I haven't played a ton with MOA so I have been leaning towards MIL. Plus, most of the guys I shoot with are from the military so they do everything in meters as is and I'd rather not have to do mental conversions to use an MOA reticle with them.

If you shoot with people that use mil definitely get mrad. Dialing and calling holds is so much easier imo.

As far as the difference in adjustment size .1 mrad at 1000 is 3.6", .25 moa is 2.6175". Less than 1" at 1000 yards.

Sell it and buy an Aero builders set
I would if Aero had sets in stock but they don't.

I may just "cannibalize" this PSA set for the stock and all that stuff and try and cop a MEGA or Aero upper/lower combo.

The Xmas tree reticle means the one that has like 9 million holds in the lower half of the scope right? I know Vortex has them on everything from the Diamondback Tactical on up to their Razor line.
Yeah man, it’s easy to understand. Whereas we used to dial and hold windage for everything. Xmas reticle allows you to hold and continue to use windage lines.

The hallmark ones are really based off the Horus reticle or h58, 59, 37 ect there’s several versions. Say the hold over or come up or data whatever someone wants to call elevation is 8.5, you hold the 8 mil line and .5 down, in the Horus that’s the open space between the 2/3 lines.

Of course it takes training and the reticle becomes cluttered but it works well.

I like the ERB7 from Vortex and the mil xt from nightforce but I’ve spent a tremendous amount of time behind h58,59 tremor2 and 3. Before that stuff I was all duplex reticles both MOA dot and MIL dot. It all works just gotta get out and use it.

I admit I am bias towards Vortex because of their warranty and I've also never had an issue with their optics. I'll likely go with that Strike Eagle in MIL when it becomes available again.

Thanks for the help.

This is why I prefer meters 1000m 1mil = 40in (rounded) or 3.936 @100m rounded to 4. Ironically e-type targets are 40/20. So it’s a helpful reference.

I dial winds occasionally if I’m holding more than 3mils of wind I’m dialing it. Or a very consistent wind full value. Otherwise it’s always hold. Winds in mrads are so much easier. But the conversion mil to moa is .3 so I can use my mil wind formula and convert it to moa if I’m am shooting with an moa guy.

left .6 or left 2moa.

Vortex is good I’ve owned several of their scopes. The razor gen ii is one my favs, love their new 1-10 and 1-6. Strike eagle is a solid mid grade scope, probably the best for the price. Though athlon Midas and a handful of others are closing the gap.

I figure the AR10 will get a Strike Eagle and my 6.5 R700 build will get either the PST Gen 2 or I save up and grab a Razor for it. My hunting binos are Vortex, my range finder is Vortex, my first AR optic was that 3x Vortex knock off ACOG. The only optic of mine that isn't is an AimPoint T2 on my 14.5, a MRO that will end up on my 10.5, and the Leupold VX4 that came with my Weatherby.

I’ve got a couple of scopes that just move from gun to gun. So long as the bias is the same it’s quick work to confirm zero and get at it. I got the mro too I really like it for the price!

I love my MRO. I just like having multiple red dots available to me. I figure when I finish the AR10 and 6.5 builds I’ll be done buying or building rifles for a bit. I still have a spare lower I could build something on but I’ll just mount whatever is on the AR10 in a cantaliver mount from like Badger Ordnance.

The model is good but you can consider P220 in 10mm instead. Thinking of using a Mildot scope with it. So, my next purchase is probably a Mildot scope. UTG is the market leader, you know!

Who are you talking to? Do you contribute to that website?

Are you saying you're putting a utg mildot scout scope on a 10mm P220?

Just ordered an HK vp9 optics ready from PSA. They had them for $699.
Mounting plate is pre ordered and won't be shipped for several weeks.

Weren't you saying you were going to slow down on the gun purchases and builds?
