What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Any particular reason on the Saker?
I have the Saker Trifecta Flash Hider and am going to get the Saker Trifecta Brake for my AR-10.

Basically a pure practicality thing also talking to SilencerCo they said I can use one can for both guns if I get the right model.

EDIT:
Because my 14.5" AR is pinned and welded I can't change it but if I could I'd probably go back and get an ASR style flash hider from SilencerCo for it. Simply cause mounting wouldn't require an adapter.

A gunsmith could probably remove that pin and welded brake in under 10 minutes.

Personally I wouldn't let that decided a can for me. A Dead Air Sandman S is basically a lighter, shorter, better Saker with a better mount. There is also SiCo's new Chimera which is basically SiCo's Sandman or there is also the Omega. My Omega I plan on using Dead Air's KeyMo.

Don't you have to match the can to your mount though?

I was suggesting paying a gunsmith to remove your pin and welded brake and replace it with a brake/mount for a better(imo) suppresor.

The Saker isn't bad or anything, it's just pretty long and heavier than some other options.

To be fair my 14.5" even though it's a "SHTF I grab that AR" sorta set up I'd leave without the suppressor in that situation.

I got a feeling the suppressor will spend more time on my .308 AR10 than the AR15 and that AR10 will be a MK12 clone range toy.

Will look into what else I can do though.

Thanks

$450 for an Upper, lower, handguard combo. Woof... but going to go for it probably beginning in February.

Question for some of you. This Mk12 but in .308 clone I am doing... I need to get some magazines for it.

Part of me is thinking getting just 20 rounders cause it's a .308 and the idea of lugging 30 rounders full of .308 just for bench shooting and MAYBE hunting is just, well, kind of ridiculous weight wise sounding to me.

Thoughts?

There are SR25 mags for $90.

Get a couple 20 and 25 round pmags.

@RerouteToRemain

What's the order of operation so to speak to purchasing suppressors?

File the paperwork/fingerprints/passport photos first and then purchase it once that's filed/the check has been sent in... OR, purchase the suppressor like online then send in/take care of paperwork same day or the day after?

Check local shop prices. They might do free transfer, free prints, etc. My dealer had good prices that beat online even with taxes on the dead air cans. Capitol Armory was better for the omega even with the $50 transfer fee my shop charges. So check your shops fee first.

If online, purchase first. They form 3 immediately (send from one dealer to another), usually takes like 3-14 days before gov shutdown. Get to your dealer and fill out form 4, your dealer should fill out a pretty good amount of it. While waiting for form 3 you could go to Walgreens or whatever and get photos. If your dealer does prints do them there. If not ask if they have print cards, my dealer hands out filled out(to atf) print cards free. If not make sure you get some and fill them out correctly to the atf. So anyway fill out the form 4, attach 2 print cards, 1-2 pictures(only 1 if trust), and a check for $200. You can also do credit card by filing out that info on the form 4. They will process that check or cc within a week or so of it being shipped. If you are doing a trust photocopy your notarized trust and attach that as well. After everything is filled out and attached send the atf copy to the atf and the CLEO copy to your chief law enforcement officer.

It sounds like a lot but it's not that bad. Pictures, prints, trust copy, check, filled out form 4, ship to atf and cleo.

If you or anyone else would like an example of a form 1 or form 4 I could help with that so it's less confusing. On the form 4 my shop filled in most of it, I just had to do the responsible person's part (same thing you fill out for a firearm).

Side note, I would recommend filing as a trust. You can do silencer shop single shot trust (trust for just that item) for example if you want to add members to it right after it clears. If you add members to a regular trust immediately and plan on buying more nfa items they will have to do prints, pictures, etc on next purchase.

Need help Sherbros. I'm going to buy a 1911. Trying to keep the cost low. Only stipulation is that I want a carry version and not a full size (4-4.25"). Don't care about caliber (fuck .40 though) but I'd prefer a 9mm as that would be in line with the rest of my handguns and wouldn't require me buying special ammo just for it but I'm not against a .45. What's the best bang for my buck in a reliable carry 1911?

Just bought my first 1911 Commander in 9mm. Research suggested lower-end models might not be reliable. I bought a Colt Wiley Clapp version. Only put like 40 rounds through it and had no problems. But those are like $1,100.

For low cost and reliability you might be better of going .45.

Yeah, the 1911 is a weird gun.

I know one guy that used the older ones and the fancy Colt ones in the Marines and worked as an armorer and there's something about the gun's design that makes it obvious it's built to run on old slow fat .45 ACP or 10mm and the 9mm causes feeding issues.

I've heard good things about Rock Island Armory 1911s but I don't know if they have Commander sized ones. I know Springer does but whether you want to shop there or not @Te Huna Matata given some of the shit they've supported in Illinois is up to you.

I was looking at Rock Island at a distance as I know nothing about them. But it looks like they have 5" and 3.5" but nothing in between. Need the Goldilocks.

Must resist.

Noveske's Space Invader. Paddle and colt mags, Q stock, 3 lug mount, Geissele goodness.
